I don't see how you accidentally find that logo when looking for SEAL Team 6/DEVGRU stuff. My money is that this was a hand-off as a practical joke to a news anchor who didnt know any better. It worked perfectly. No matter how it happened, though, hilarious.

Fantastic, I love it. That the reporter commented on the image just rubs it in - they can't even pretend that it was just a background image if they're referring to it ^_^ I wonder if there was a Trekkie working the computers that day who thought he'd have a little fun ;)

Fox News got it wrong about eight times. First it was Obama bin Laden, then it was Usama bin Laden. I think it went downhill from there.

This is hilarious though...
Almost EVERY news station got "Osama" wrong.
Because "Osama" is wrong. His real name is "Usama", it was just changed in the west because its first 3 letters spelled "USA".
Excuse me whilst I remove my forehead from my palm.

Alright. Now, first order of business... did you consider that maybe Usama's name originally is spelled using something other than the traditional Roman alphabet? That, above and beyond anything having to do with the first three letters of his name, has a lot to do with it. If you want further confusion, try romanization from Chinese,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_language#Romanization
which uses many different accepted systems, including one agreed by Chinese people to be right, and one agreed by English speakers to actually look like it sounds. The funny thing is about half the Chinese words, people, and cities we know in English come from one system, and half from the other. This problem with Romanization happens with any language that doesn't use Roman characters.

So no, neither Osama nor Usama are his real name technically. أسامة بن لادن is his real name (and that's read right to left, by the way) (and also, thanks @Ketsuban, I'm not good at typing in Arabic.) You want one way to be right? Make a system accepted by everyone who uses Arabic characters for their written language, as well as people in the West. And hope no one comes after you with a system that more closely matches the pronunciation, or is simpler or shorter to use.

When I saw
"German TV Says Star Trek Terrorists Killed Bin Laden"
I just HAD to read this.
That has to be the most ridiculous sounding headline I've seen in a long time. Reads like a mad lib.

Still not as bad as all the Fox news reports showing/saying "Obama" instead of "Osama."

Ha! Silly krauts.
That's an offensive slur and I suggest you refrain from using it in future.
Honestly, I've never figured out why that term is now supposed to be considered offensive or derogatory. German sailors originally used sauerkraut as an effective remedy against scurvy (which is where the term is believed to have come from). The English likewise used sauerkraut, but switched to using limes later on, and hence the term for them became Limeys.

It's historical slang, I just can't find the offence to be taken from it. Likewise you see everyday use of 'Yanks' 'Kiwi' and others that have no fundamental insult attached to it.

In blinding contrast, calling someone of German decent 'Nazi' is extremely offensive and derogatory for obvious reasons.

See the difference?

PS. I'm a Limey Canuck. (Hell will freeze over before 'Canuck' is thought to be offensive).

PPS. Not a fan of Political Correctness; the 'Political' part of the term tells a person almost all they need to know to realise why it's not always a good thing.

I wouldn't have believed that we would be that petty, but then again we had "freedom fries" for a while too. My face spent a lot of time in my palm during the Bush years.

This is hilarious. I wonder if there's, like, a guy whose ONLY job is to find images from Google image search. If there is: "I'm sorry you got fired dude."
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the Google image search dude was a trekkie and did it as a joke. "Don't care! Was totally worth it!"

Is it just me or is pretty much every major news channel on the planet tripping and falling over left, right and centre when it comes to reporting the 'facts' about Osama Bin Laden's death? XD

These idiots. They could have at least done some REAL work and copypasta'd the SEAL Team symbol from MW2 multiplayer.
