I can't blame guys in Japan. From what I've seen, most girls in Japan never get out of that high school mentality that the guy has to be hot looking to be datable. I know thats not diffrent in America but the number of girls is the main diffrence.

Yikes. Just, um, yikes. These people are aware that the cartoonish figures on their screens aren't real, right? Right?

Unfortunately, they are 'real' enough that getting to any more than a few bases with your 'wifu' will get you a sex offence conviction in quite a few jurisdictions, now. Not really helping in stopping the line between reality and not reality from getting blurred and playing into the delusions of the people who are obsessed with this type of game.

It's acceptable to use computers to live out heroic war fantasies, exploration of the unknown, unlikely friendships, global conspiracies, murders, heists, familial turmoil and daring escapes, all portrayed with depths ranging from shallow to artistic.

But as soon as a relationship is on the cards, it's for sad losers who should all be more like me, charismatic stallion that I am.

Every kind of escapism is available in games and I see no reason to treat relationships any differently, however tempting it is to feel smug and superior.
