THATS how you market the game. Valve does it right, unlike others *cough* EA *cough*.

Curse my Computer's inability to play Portal 2! If only all AAA companies marketed like this.

Man I feel like an idiot. When the Potato Sack was released, I thought to myself, I wonder if this will have anything to do with Portal 2 coming up. Then I thought Nahh, it's a bunch of indie games, Valve wouldn't be able to get a bunch of indie developers to do something this big...

Damn I wish I was a cool as Gabe..

Hope The Potato Sack is still available, would like to purchase it tonight so I can see these things first hand. Also some of those games look pretty neat!
It's still available [http://store.steampowered.com/sub/7586/]. Extra bonus to go alongside your TF2 hat if you have all the games by Portal 2's release.

The Wonderful End Of The World is also a part of it, updating atm see what I find.
It has a hidden stage (Hold 'P' when entering the Sugar Candy level) where you collect multi-colored companion cubes. Get big enough and you can even pick up a cake. Do that and you get a voice clip from GLaDOS and a potato next to your name on your Steam profile.

No idea what the potatoes do, you get one after playing the new stages (or finding other hidden things, like the crate level in Wonderful End of the World)

Wow. This is how you advertise to gamers. You don't throw stupid shit like "your mom will hate this". You put bonus levels in games they already play, you get interest in games they don't have by putting bonus levels they would be interested in, inside of games they never heard of and then tell people. I wonder what the sales bump of the potato sack games will be? I haven't heard of the Potato sack (haven't been on steam store in a few days...) and I'm probably going to buy it.

Edit: Of course this isn't the ONLY way.... but I think this will do a hell of a lot more than insulting TV commercials.

I freaking love Valve for this. Would have taken so much coordination and effort to set everything up, and it's such a nice idea to bleed the world into reality. Hell, escapism is the biggest draw of games, it's a good angle to try and play it like it's becoming real.

Also that Audiosurf song is oddly catchy.

Wow. Valve's really going all the way with the advertisements, and that's damn cool. I mean, some of that stuff in the other games looked great.
Well done, Valve. Well done indeed.

Also, if anyone's interested, the song at the end of BIT.TRIP.BEAT is the second one in this vid: Starts at 1:25. I've been listening to that awesome tune for quite some while... seriously cool. Robots FTW indeed.

Cool stuff, I might have to pick-up the potato sack.

The audio surf thing is also pretty neat. I am terrible at audio surf however.

What about the first part? I've been waiting for a clean release of it since the E3 trailer!

Well, the only game I have from the sack is Super Meat Boy, and I'm not dropping $30+ on a bunch of games I'm not interested in, no matter how many Portal 2 themed goodies they add.

I will look for whatever they did in Super Meat Boy, though.

I just played Audiosurf and found this level, was just going to tip you off but ya beat me to it.

Funny thing is, I already have the song "The Device Has Been Modified" and have played it several times.

Released early if you play a few other games???? WTF!!

All this carrot and stick bullshit is getting out of fucking order...

Release the fucking thing when it's ready, you're selling it to us not giving it away and you already hyped it up the arse, now you want to dangle it above our heads and say 'do this first'.. FUCK YOU!
Settle down. You don't HAVE to do anything. You can just ignore this whole ARG thing and wait for the 19th, when you will be able to get a copy of Portal 2 regardless of your level of participation in this thing.

Damn. Between the comic and that first song...I think I'm buying Portal 2 now.

Now if you're excuse me, I'm off to find an mp3 of "The Device Has Been Modified"...

Think they are promoting their own game a bit too much? Not saying I'm not hyped for this game! I have it preloaded already! It just seems like they are really trying hard. Which is good still! Just not use to seeing this much effort put into marketing! I hope the game is good.

Damn the marketing for this game has been amazing. Gotta say I got a slight feeling that a lot of people aren't gonna get this on release, just cause it's not a game they're used to pay full price for. Hope not off course, it deserves a spot in every game library.

They're watching us, the islabil movement..

Okay, after almost posting a relatively silly response, i finally realized that you meant the first part in the BIT.TRIP vid. Right?

If i understood correctly, then you're looking for this:

Sorry x3 I get very excitable when it comes to music, so I will sometimes forget to make sure I'm understandable. And no, I was looking for this.

I am loving Science Can Be Fun, too, but Reconstructing Science was what I've been waiting for. This soundtrack is already blowing Portal's insanely far out of the water, and we only seem to have two or three true songs.
