GodBlock: Keeping Your Children Safe on the Internet
According to the GodBlock development team, even children raised in a secular household are at risk of being exposed to religious content on the internet. "GodBlock is a web filter that blocks religious content," the site says. "It is targeted at parents and schools who wish to protect their kids from the often violent, sexual, and psychologically harmful material in many holy texts, and from being indoctrinated into any religion before they are of the age to make such decisions."

If this is serious, then I have one thing to say: isn't this stooping EVEN FURTHER below the level of the intolerant religious types who try to keep their child in the dark about non-religious things? I mean, even those people are starting to let off the pressure, and as soon as that's happening here comes some retard going "It's the atheists' turn to be intolerant!"

Honestly, though, it sounds like trolling on a massive scale.
No joke.

Besides: Isn't this 'protection' from religious 'indoctrination' just indoctrinating a wholly separate worldview on kids?
Hypocritical statement is hypocritical.

Pretty funny.

I'd wager it's been done as a joke - let's not forget, many of the attacks on the internet and games (and pop. culture in general) are made from religious groups so I'm guessing it's a hit back at that.

Having a single page with download links that just say the program isn't ready, makes me think there is no program. This looks more like someone just selling "Godblock" stickers for $5, using viral marketing to get attention.

Given discussions earlier today...I think that reaction to this should be following the same view.

Why trust someone with an ulterior motive to judge what you can/can't say or see?

I like it. The religious and otherwise anti-game come out with blockers like the ones commonly seen in schools, and now the opposite exists. I'm just glad it exists if only to show them that it can be done either way.
That doesn't stop it from being extremely closed minded and idiotic. I'm not defending blocking anti-religious content, because either way is stupid. How are people or kids supposed to make their own choices when they are kept from information? Choices made out of ignorance are the worst indeed...

At least someone seems to get it xD !
Yeah well, everyone else just keeps banging on about it being close-minded; yet the it doesn't exist yet and it's got a hilarious name. Kind of difficult to see it as anything other then a prank/response!

Is this a legitimate project, some kind of publicity stunt or maybe a twist on the "send me money" formula? Perhaps a sequel to Dante's Inferno [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96208-Mass-We-Pray-A-Holy-Hoax-or-Just-a-Really-Bad-Game] is on the way?
Say what you will about the game, the marketing certainly was memorable :)

OT: If this is legit, then the parents who buy it are just as bad as the religeous people they are supposedly against.

I don't think it sounds too bad. Maybe a little unnecessary but it's always best to let kids decide their religious views when they're old enough to do so.

Too bad we couldn't put the same censor on parents, schools and TV. I don't have anything against religion in general, I just hate to see any kid brought up on it.

Wow! I'm no fan of religion, but this is just incredibly stupid. Besides, there are far worse things on the Internet that you need to protect your kids from then religion.

Yeah, it seems more like bs than anything else. I'm in favor of no kind of filter for the internet but I can't deny that something filtering the other side is a nice balance for once - if this actually were real.

I am Muslim and I am seriously laughing at this. Talk about being close-minded. I thought no matter what, dialogue was neccesary to co-exist with others. But apparently, this project aims for creating a line between two groups.

It's a sad sad thing to invent. I never was blocked off from any anti-religion sources, they added much to me than subtracting and damaging me. It's a serious shame.
You do realize that you're probably supposed to be laughing at it, right? It's almost certainly parody. Taking it seriously is like taking "A Modest Proposal" seriously.
