Does a really good job of introducing all the charactors, who they are and what they are fighting for, while being well edited and having a score that gets you pumped to play the game and kick some ass.

Same for me, I think part of it is down to the awesome way that Karan S'jet says almost disbelieving about being under attack.

Modern Warfare had a pretty good opening. OK, so it was the 3rd level, but it introduced us to the world. Showed us the chaos of the world. On the brink. That and GTA IV. I just love how we get the introduction to the Diamonds and Heroin right off the bat.

The dawn of war cinematic is probably my favourite - its just so freaking awesome. I did rather like ME2's opening as well - it was certainly better than the opening of me3 anyway.

We have a winner here I think, but something that I realised recently concerning the very first scene that annoyed me...

In ME3, why the hell doesn't Miranda (assuming she's still alive) just tell you where Cerberus headquarters is when she's been there?! Seriously, she's stood in that very room in Cronos Station with The Illusive Man, but at no point in all you interactions with her after she's left Cerberus, who have now put a price on her head, does it occur to her to tell you where their mother-fucking base of operations is? Instead, you have to jump through a whole series of hoops, including her planting a tracer on Kai Leng so he'll lead you back to their base. Again, I have to ask why all that is necessary when she already knows where it is and could have just effing told you?! So I guess you could say everything Cerberus gets up to for the whole second half of the game is her fault. Fuck that *****!

If i remember correctly what it said in the books - the illusive mans base is a space station which is periodically moved to different sections of the galaxy, so that nobody knows where it is.

half-life wins this in my opinion as it was the first game to have you performing the introduction as the protagonist opposed to just watching it.

ME2 is a close second just because it was so well done in every aspect (although i do wish i could have skipped it after my third play through).

RoC= good animation concidering it was 2002?? and what's cooler than a duel between a green beast and a human and then a fire demon appears from the sky?

TFT= New race thrown in at starting movie and possibly the most liked / most mystical hero of the Franchise in the opening bringing the new race up from the bottom of the sea.
