Regardless of personal opinions, it's undeniable that have been a major influence on the punk/pop rock genre so just labelling them off as 'shit' is a stupid term in itself.

Personally I quite like Dookie and few songs off some of the other albums such as Brain Stew etc. American Idiot was pretty good at times and was probably one of the most successful comebacks I've seen. The latest one was pretty bland and uninventive for me though.

Don't really care for them. American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown were both disappointing, although at least the former had some listenable tracks. Still, I'd say Dookie was their best album, but they aren't really my kind of band, being a metalhead an' all.

To clarify, Green Day are to Stiff Little Fingers what Rancid are to The Clash. Complete clones right down to the strumming style and vocal mannerisms.
That was not the impression I got. The vocal styles are very different. Stiff Little Fingers seem more conventionally punk in their musical sense.

Rancid is a Clash clone? Oh whatever, I don't want to argue this. I don't even like punk very much.

I think they're good, not a big fan of their music, but I listen to it from time to time. Their latest album was very good.

Nimrod was one of the best albums of their genre ever released. After that, big-ass giant downhill slope that's basically a cliff wall but steeper.
This, basically. Old good, new bad.

Fuckin' love 'em. Catchy tunes and intelligent lyrics, content over style (and a shitlod of style), and a Drummer called Frank Edwin Wright III. What's not to like?

Alright, I hear this alot but I figure if I inquire on The Escapist I'll get a more civilized response than on Youtube. Exactly what makes Green Day em*?

Dookie had some classics on it, but overall I never really paid attention to them

American Idiot of a colossal failure in my eyes thoug, along with their latest album.

Don't like them. Not really my kind of music. Irritatingly popular amongst my friends though.

I'd quite like a green-coloured day of the week.

Green Day are allright, never particularly liked them, but never disliked them.

Apathy attack!

They are the most annoying band ever! They're older stuff was bearable but their new stuff is what amounts to 3 chords an EXTREMELY basic drum beat, bass which just follows the guitar to the note and "Vocals" which are simply a monotonous grunt going through most of the song aside from the basic solo.

Your not wrong, youtube is unlikely to give you a civilised response, but their mainly emo because they suddenly changed their styling, sound, and subject matter of their songs, as well as their music style, so it became standard american emo punk, rather than slightly alternative.

Can't bloody stand them, just like I can't stand almost everything that gets classified as punk rock. That their last couple albums were pretentious liberal 'rock operas' does not help endear them to me either.

I liked them up until they started believing that they were the U2 of the punk world.

When American Idiot first came out in 2004 or whenever, I absolutely loved it. I ate that shit up, because I thought it was good. I was about 13. Nowadays, I still like a few tracks off of AmId, like "Whatsername" and "Homecoming," but I vastly prefer their older stuff. Shenanigans is good.
Overall, not my favorite band anymore, though they used to be. Still okay though.
Definitely NOT punk rock anymore, but tolerable. Much more so than the Disney tweens, at least.
