Seems to me the more responsible thing to do would be to find a proper way to balance the amount of games you play with the responsibilities of real life. You still have time for fun, but you make time for the more important things in life. But cutting games or anything fun you do (legally) out entirely seems to be avoiding the issue more than addressing it.

If he's pro-abortion to any degree, is he really a conservative? Just throwing that out there. :D

It is pretty tough to take a man like Mr. Bennet seriously, most things that tick him off don't even matter to men half his age yet he still try's to use what little power he has to influence others into his belief and make life difficult for minority's to make himself feel superior.

Yet if anyone is qualified to speak about passion and living life it is probably his way of thinking. His generation does have a lot of moxy, would be the term I would use. He is passionate about life and working towards making it the way they see it. I would agree that the younger generation isn't as passionate.

We are not motivated, I think today's teens are probably less so on average. We get our job, we may date a girl. but most don't seem to care what they do, technology has made life pretty easy and most pleasures in life cheap an affordable, why bust your butt just to be comfortable?

Apathy levels are probably at an all time high, though I doubt video games are to blame. still the only valuable thing to take from his statement that we can't let our hobby be our life, only supplement it. It's too bad such an ignorant bigot doesn't like it because he thinks we should be on top, better than everyone else and keeping woman dumb and pregnant as a servant to husbands so we can go hang people that are different from us.

Still the underlying message is important. :)

Replace video-games with just about any other form of media and you'll get the same result: A whiny old sexist fuck whose ass is jealous of the shit that comes out of his mouth.

OT: this guy is a moron but he has a little tiny bit of a point I have seen people refuse to get a job because it would cut into their world of Warcraft time and that's just sad

To be fair, he never said that. What he said was in response to someone saying allowing abortion may have caused the Social Security problem we have now, his response being people say that crime has gone down since that ruling, which suggests that the best way to get rid of crime would be to abort black children (which he then goes on to describe as "morally reprehensible"). Of course his statement's still dripping with bigotry, but he never actually called for aborting anyone. He's pro-life, that wouldn't make any sense.
See, even if he doesn't advocate it, that's a terrible position to hold, as it relies on the underlying assumption that black people are criminals. Yes, SOME black people commit crimes, but that's true of any group. Let's see how that quote plays when we single out Jews:

"But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every Jewish baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."

Or Italians:

"But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every Italian baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."

Or the Irish:

"But I do know that it's true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could -- if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every Irish baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down."

If those quotes offend you and the first one doesn't, you have a serious problem.

I'll be quite honest: He sounds like an extreme conservative, right down to his morals and ideals that seem ripped out of 80 years past.

:/ I can sympathize with him wanting some Americans to get back to work and having productive lives, but I cannot share how he wants things to go along. Women are just as talented as educated as men, gays are gaining power and political support, and racism became very unpopular after the Civil Rights Movement. To this man, I must say: Get over yourself.

My bad, I misread your comment. I thought you were saying that since he didn't actually advocate aborting anyone, it was fine. I guess I just missed the "Of course his statement's still dripping with bigotry" line. Oops.

Well done. I see you've tried to plant a fallacy using abortion as the root. Political figures cannot represent the party they belong to on every conceivable level, unless it was the Borg and they were assimiliated. In other words: Yes, he really is a conservative. There are pro-abortionists who are otherwise conservative in nature, just like their are vegan conservatives and even gay conservatives.

I see your point but that is a bad example, because actually I would say valuing a job over a romance is not that bad of a priority mix up perhaps at worst it might have some long term effect on his emotional well being but that is iffy, where as the man who refuses to get a job is both leaching off the state and causing his family to have to try and eat on a minuscule budget because most of the money he gets from the government goes straight to video games

He's not pro-abortion; his actual statement was that the correlation between abortion rates and crime would suggest that aborting all black babies would lower crime. He does not advocate actually doing the act, and considers such eugenics "morally reprehensible."

Racist, a bit. But not pro-abortion by any definition of the term.

Also, as someone else pointed out already, ideology is not black/white; you don't become a liberal the moment you want abortions, or a conservative the moment you hate illegal immigration. Political opinions are (well, preferably) significantly more complex and nuanced.

Clearly us 18-to-34-year-old men should be playing more 12-to-17-year-old boys. Ambiguous grammar is fun.

Funny how this politician has nothing to say about the Rich Male Porn Star/Directors seducing his generations daughters with money, drugs, and alcohol into the Porn Industry and becoming online slu*s. What about those scum?

You are not a man if you fuck every woman you can. You are meaningless, heartless, and will live a fast life to death and hell, especially with all that drama and higher risk of a psycho cutting your throat in the middle of the night.

Video Gamers live more of a life of Duty, and live a thousand lives, all while not trying to be foolish worker slaves in the real world.

We are more free than those corrupt politicians trying to stay out of jail and making billions just to spend billions enslaving others.

Free your chains from a consumer's life and get your 40 hours a week back fellow gamers!

I'm 18. The reason I don't have a job is because there aren't any around where I live. I've looked into applying at like 30 different places in the last month, and only 2 have accepted any sort of applications, and then only one of those has actually got back to me about anything. I wonder what he'd say about that?

"For the first time in history, women are better educated, more ambitious and arguably more successful than men,"
And this is a bad thing? I'm confused, is he accusing men of gaming addiction or jealous of successful women?

Stop listening to the media telling you how to be a man, listen to ME telling you what it is to be a man!

No thanks you fat old dinosaur.

I have a job tyvm, and unlike this old fossil, my job is actually hard physical work.
I play videogames to relax and get a little escapism.

It's better than spending all that time staring at the TV watching the mindless drivel that passes for entertainment these days.

At least with games my mind is active and working hmm?
Solving problems, overcoming obstacles, training HEC and mental mapping skills.
I play with my friends... lots of friends, from all over the world, different cultures, different people, it's a great way to meet new people.

This headline should read "old man confused, scared of social evolution".
Because that's all that's happening here.

Values change.. deal with it.
Evolve or die.
