My rig plays nearly every game at at least 30fps. When GW2 first came out I found it had lots of graphical optimization problems. A big one that drove me away was that using the map caused my fps to plummet after closing it, but even then maintaining a steady rate seemed impossible even at the lowest settings.razer17 said:Can anyone who still plays it tell me how the optimisation is? I have read a lot of early fan criticism saying that the frame rate was very up and down, even on pretty good hardware. Is it easy to get a consistent 30+ frames even when things get busy?
I haven't actually played yet, but I am drawn to it. My best mate has it, and once I assemble my gaming PC around this time next month I will probably make GW2 my first purchase. I used to enjoy WoW, but only if I was playing with people I knew. Hopefully I'll have the same with GW2, plus the lack of sub fees is a big plus.
I just started playing again a day or two ago and it looks like all the problems from launch have been fixed. Game runs very smoothly for me; 60fps with some slight fluctuations. I run with 2 crossfired ATI Radeon HD 5770 cards (overclocked slightly), an Intel i7 dual core 930 at the default of 2.8ghz (liquid cooled with a $60 radiator system), and carry 6gigs of ram. It's about 3 years old and the fans kick into high gear when playing GW2, it's the only game that can push my system over the 52c mark, so make of that what you will. Granted the game looks fantastic at nearly every setting so even if you can't run it at full blast it's a feast for the eyes.
