This is further proof that games like MW2 and Halo should NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE be sold to anyone under the age of 18.

Parents should not be allowed to buy these games either. They just end up in the hands of bratty 12 year old xbox 360 users.
You do realize that the limit is 17 in America don't you? Also, what in the hell are you talking about I've played such games all my life and never once acted like these (mainly reffering to the "I'm gonna pwn some n00bs in lik in halo!!!!!1111" kid) dipshits.

-facepalm- I love COD, but this is fucking ridiculous. Asking for an ACR? Really? That second anecdote really made me facedesk. Read up on guns first assholes. Then you'll know what you can ask for. If at all.

I know a lot of people who think they know a lot about guns, and a few who are obsessed enough to do more research. I know just enough to understand that with the exception of looks and names the guns aren't all that similar to the real versions of the guns.
i became interested by goldenye, and did my research on the guns.. now i flame CoD tards for thinking they know all about guns.

I know that you can't hold two Model 1887s and expect to not break your own arms. Or that you shouldn't fire a .50cal rifle from anything but a prone position, preferably with a bipod.

As for some actual details, the gun I know the most about is the AK-47, though mostly bare basics. Even then I may have most of my "facts" wrong. Made in 1947, right? :p

(How to handle most guns is a different story, though I have used a bolt-action rifle before. Way back in Boy Scouts. We were too cool for archery.)

Pretty true, while I am not expert on guns by any means, it pisses me off when people say stupid things like how "great" desert eagles are, even though they are impractical as shit.

I won't pretend I'm some gun expert. I know general operations and have fired a different range of guns. A few random rifles, handguns, shotguns however missed out on the opportunity to try some awesome black powder guns. I'm decently accurate but with lack of practice definitely no pro. In the future I would like to eventually purchase my own and potentially do a little bit of hunting as I'm really fond of deer/moose among other wild meats. Although it is on the list of things to consider when I move from my apartment into an actual home.

But to go into a gun shop because your playing halo... is depressing.

I am completley unintrested in the whole Guns debate. If someone comes up to me to mug me or something, I cannot do anything, as I have no gun (Britain), and even if I did, he would surely attack before I could draw. And if he had a gun as well, I'd be dead, so booyah

Another intresting note is the source's comment on the "Belt Below a level Belts should not Go"

I. HATE. THIS. SO. MUCH

Words cannot describe the sheer stupidity of people who do this. Seriously, all you're saying to the world is "I'm cool enough to have a half-functioning cerebellum! What am a belt, anyhoo?"

A thought occurs to me, mabye the Yanks on here can help me out:

You're allowed a concealed firearm, aren't you? If I had a poncho on and wore a hip holster that, if I hadn't got the poncho on, would be blatantly visible...does that count as a concealed firearm, or a firearm that happens to have a bit of material hiding it?
Yes it is. My state (Texas) is working on a bill that'll allow us to waive a gun around in public. YEEHAW!!!

sorry for the double post.

Take note, 2nd Amendment proponents. These are the kind of people you're fighting for.

If you have some love for firearms, that's your prerogative, but please please please don't make them any more accessible to the public than they already are.

Oh god...my brain....leaking...losing...will...to...live.

Seriously, these idiots think that video games can actually train them in the use of firearms? And that they can 'cap some n00bs' like in Halo? I'm pretty sure the police would object (And I'd laugh my head off if the police snipers said 'pwned' when taking these guys down).

Oh yes. There's a kid on my course who's convinced that he's a crack shot with every type of weapon because he's good at Counterstrike. When I gave him a bunch of pellet guns I've got over the years, he couldn't even hit a can at twenty paces. To this day he claims that he was "compensating for recoil" and that he missed because "a pellet gun doesn't have any".
I've gotten myself to the point where I explicitly state that I'm talking about the game, as I know squat about weapons, am a less than lousy shot, and would like to avoid the sort of noobish embarassment you just described.

Kids these days.

I know more about guns than I did before Call of Duty, but I sure as hell don't think they're accurate representations of their real counterparts. I definitely do not believe that soldiers are so readily handed heartbeat monitor-attached heavy machine guns and anti-aircraft rocket launchers as in the game.
Leave that nonsense to the guys who know what they're talking about.

Can't believe it's still legal in America to carry guns... Fucking wild west. Well yeah the world is kinda retarded and this doesn't suprise me a bit. Hopefully all the gamers WILL buy a gun and then just annihilate each other. Many less humanbeings to worry about

I play MW2, and I know the only thing it taught me was what certain guns look like.
One thing it didn't teach me was how to load it properly, how to hold it when firing, how to maintain it, clean it or even how to turn the safety on. People that think games teach them how to use guns really aren't worth getting worked up over. (Even if it is a little exasperating...)

The nearest I've come to firing an actual gun is my dad's old pellet gun which is not really the same at all...

But they ARE!

I mean, desert eagles are the only OHKO pistol in the world when your enemy has a helmet... But then again why bother when you can just buy a PARA! Than you win because you just spray.

On a slightly less stupid note, I don't think there is any problem with people becoming interested in guns through media outlets. However it does become a problem when those who do start assuming an FPS is the same as a training simulator, and that buying and learning to use a gun is a 1 day thing.

Also on a side note, those who aren't proficient with guns shouldn't automatically denounce a gun because of what they may have heard. A desert eagle may not be suited for as many tactical situations as a glock 18, but that doesn't mean they are totally impractical. For example if I were tiger hunting...

We are not allowed to carry a concealed firearm without a concealed carry permit. Even then it is illegal to carry a firearm in any business that prohibits firearms.

As something of a "local firearm specialist, long time hunter and army trained soldier" I really dislike this effect video games may have on people's attitude towards firearms. They become entertainment and more toys than what they actually are- tools for killing things. A total lack of respect is dangerous. And it really does get annoying when people get exited about guns they notice in games and think Call of duty is a combat simulator. Kids see the boomboom explosionfest action and think "that's what military must be like, you get to shoot shit and guns have no safety and you never have to clean them!"
THANK YOU. I'm glad someone with totally credible firsthand experience is saying this. The cultural shift of firearms into entertainment is really kind of twisted when you realize they're built for the sole purpose of killing other human beings. Buying guns for entertainment purposes seems like...buying a bottle of cyanide tablets or deadly neurotoxin and keeping it in your house because you think it's cool.
