So what's the difference between using a compiled piece of code to use an exploit rather than just a piece of code someone else wrote?
A lot, actually. Exploiting a vulnerability is a lot different than leeching someone elses programming and using it to "hack"

if you've ever tried to exploit anything you'd understand.
Obviously, but yet again, actually read what I've written. (I've emboldened the part you seemed to miss, again...)

If someone else wrote the code to exploit the vulnerability, and then you use it, that isn't hacking. No where have I said if you find and use an exploit yourself it isn't hacking.

I've said constantly to you, using someone elses code that exploits a site is not hacking, it's being a script kiddie.

Actually read what I post if you're going to respond.

Edit:

Answered your own question there. People like breaking stuff.

You clearly don't know what a skiddie is. The people involved with this exploit werent skiddies.

Some people who benefited from it by redirecting to java driveby sites (like me :p) are skiddies but not the actual hackers that found the exploit and used it.
Right, instead of quoting me you've just edited your post but anyway. What you just said is exactly what I said. I'll embolden the the bit you missed when you replied to my post.

D4zZ said:
Script kiddies are not hackers, but obviously someone needed to find the exploit in the first place.
Obviously there were hackers involved somewhere, just not the masses of people who used the previously written script that got posted on a hell of a lot of forums.
Fuck you, I just wanted to rephrase. I did that before you posted. Obviously skiddies arent hackers you tool. I'm saying whoever found the exploit and exploited the vulnerability is a hacker. And if we agree on that, then there is no discussion.
Exactly, we're in agreement, I don't know why you were trying to argue with me over the two in the first place.

4chan has the power to crash government websites.
I doubt that. I have yet to hear of 4Chan do something other than spam websites with disgusting shit and trolling.
actually I could do it. Crash a .gov website? Easy. I've also seen them defaced (but couldn't do that) but crashing it is easy.

problem is getting caught, which is why I would never do anything to a .gov (or .edu) website.

Also, did you just make an account to explain to people that you were part of that raid and part of the anon hordes?

OK so I agree I misunderstood what you were saying, and I agree that using someone elses code means your a skiddie, but you can't really be a skiddie if you're doing an exploit because how can you use someone elses code? I don't really think you understand what an exploit is, because you'd see that anyone who did one, would be impossible to be called a skiddie because each exploit if different. you cant copy someone else. The only program you'd be using would be metasploit and thats not a skiddie program.

so yes i basically did :p

and im not going to do anything to a website, im just saying its not that hard. If i could do it, 4chan could do it.

Yeah sure if you find the exploit yourself you're obviously not a script kiddie, but with this there were loads of scripts being posted all over different forums in various forms saying "put a URL or message here" and people just edited the message/redirect and copy/pasted that into Youtube to do whatever the script did.

They're still using the exploit, but certainly not hacking.

While I did enjoy what they did it would have been nicer if they had somehow managed to switch the format back to the pre change style.

They should have just made it play something like Iron Maiden instead of Bieber.

That would have been fairly awesome.

I think Youtube should have just left that vulnerability alone. Pretty funny though...

That obviously means ebaum's world was behind the attacks.

To clarify, Whenever ebaums or 4chan "raid" something, they always act like they're from the other. If people were claiming 4chan was responsible, it was ebaums, if people are claiming ebaums, it was 4chan.
wouldn't 4chan say... it was anonymous?

BUT that wasn't as bad as when 4chan shut down JFK airport yesterday just because they bought some girl a pizza who promised to show her tits... then didn't, then ALL HER PERSONAL INFO WAS PUT ON 4CHAN. Unfortunately for her she got on her plane before that happened, and they are now about to dedicate themselves to her friends and family, also they have their info as well

I'm not all that impressed, seems like a retread of the whole "Marblecake" raid, which was pretty much the same thing except it went after a larger spectrum of interests of the same basic crowd.

I mean it's impressive that they pulled it off despite Youtube's tighter security and all, but the actual results are kind of "meh" because we've seen this before, and it's not like it's a new target with some kind of new meaning behind it. I mean at this point I think it went without saying that any of the "big groups" can pwn Youtube whenever they want.

To really impress me at this point they would have to do something like sabotage the launch of WoW's new expansion or whatever. Largely because it's supposed to be impossible to do because of the way it stores data and everything. If for example a hundred million people wound up patching Justin Bieber videos and porn into their games so that's all they could see when they started it up, that would be epic.

But then again I guess it largely comes down to them succeeding to any extent against Australia after they said they were coming, is going to be a tough act to follow.

Uh-huh. Does your life lack such meaning that you need to shake up something that exists as 1s and 0s?
I've never been able to grasp the reason why people do this, it just seems juvenile and ridiculously stupid.
I don't know man. Could you have hacked it?
Can you do something that makes national news and headlines?
I would hardly call it juvenile.
