Hmm...

I feel like any moment now VALVe is going to figure who it really was and unleash some sort of terrible monster hidden in the company basement that they feed problem gamers to..

Hacking for the sake of advertising is one of those things I hate the most probably. Oh sure, fkn0wned didn't do it. And spam email trying to sell you viagra is just guys trying to help you, not in any way affiliated with the companies...
Those idiots are probably laughing their asses off for how much publicity they get for this now.

It should be noted that unless you're a complete dolt, your Steam account and your Steam forum account is not the same thing.
I think you're not even allowed to use your steam account name as a forum account name...

Either way, Steam is still safe as ever. /shrug

I didn't join the forums so it seems I would be safe... right?
Yes, actually. The forum account is completely separate from the main Steam account. I learned this the hard way when I had a tech support question to ask, and I had to make an account and then wait for them to approve it because my e-mail address was from Yahoo.
And actually, support is yet a third account. Your Steam account is separate from you forum account is separate from your support account.

Huh, didn't know that. Unfortunately, the account I made really is a forum account; the problem kind of resolved itself before I got a chance to ask anyway, so there was no need to go through with a support ticket, and I guess I wouldn't have been able to without making another account.

Hmm, who is steam evil rival that would benefit from this?
Hint starts with o ends with rigin

I'm not accusing anybody, just saying
Occasional online sellers of games... rigin?

Just so you know, Gamespot had one too. Just because Origin came along with their EA exclusives doesn't mean that they're the only chump... er, 'rivals' in the park.

This may not be as much of a problem as it could be, but it is still rather annoying. I really hope that the ones responsible can be found.

Oh no they're going to steal my account to ask for support and talk about games.

Ha, Ha! Exactly this. I never go on Steam forums, not even for troubleshooting and support. Their choice of blackish gray background annoys the hell out of my eyes. Good thing I didn't give Steam my credit card info since I purchase via PayPal.
This just in, Hackers have stolen all information relating to PayPal accounts.

Scared now?

I was getting that for a sec but then I saw it needed to be updated so once I did that it worked.

Wow. What an idiot.

What's the point to taking down those forms? It didn't remove Valve anti cheat, and nothing they do ever will.

Now let's unleash an army of gabens to his house.

Seriously, it's like flicking one soldier in a massive army.

good thing i dont care for the forum. unless its about a old game and want to find out if it works on newer systems. but i did use the troubleshooter few times and i got help from valve. so this at least works.

damn the hackers. makes you want to stay away from PC at all.

Another reason not to like Steam. Having all your games linked to an account means hackers can easily screw you out of 100s of dollars. Good thing it was only the forum, just wait until this happens to the main accounts.

Now, could they crash Steam itself if they wanted to?
This is one of the many reasons I don't like the idea of linking up online to play games locally.

A vBulletin board was pwned? Shocker!

In other news, Water is Wet. Sun expected to rise in East. Haters gonna hate.

Seriously. VB boards are easier to compromise than a politician with a taste for acting in underage midget porn films.
