Honestly, the title of this article is giving the wrong impression. Every time I click on one of these articles and see an eye-catching title, it's pretty much instinct for me to read the article in depth and know just how much the title is exaggerating. In this one, it's borderline lying.
It's not that Japanese women find these AI programs specifically tailored to appeal to men who want a woman's attention "superior", it's just that, in terms of swooning over some random guy, the program that designers have slaved over making as efficient as possible is obviously going to be able to be able to talk its way into a desperate guy's heart. Will there be guys who seek to live their lives with a program? Yes, but I don't think many Japanese girls are going to be losing sleep over that. Also keep in mind that these guys aren't going to have to worry about things like the AI's snoring habits or how the AI doesn't fold her laundry. These robots have a specific audience, and it's likely that a majority of the Japanese female community isn't too heavily interested in forming intense relationships with that audience. There's no Japanese damsel in distress, waiting impatiently for a guy to rescue her from the horde of robot-obsessed males that plague Japan. But, if you play around with your article title a bit, you can sure make people think that.
