Virtual girlfriends are a boon to internet losers because they allow you to make real girls jealous without having to obtain a real girl in the first place.

If you fly to Japan and throw yourself at a hot Japanese chick with self-esteem issues, she's going to tell you to go fuck yourself. Then she's going to compete with a virtual girlfriend for the affection of some other loser.

I'm afraid theres a bit of Japanese pigeonholing here. There's translation issues here, naturally, but I suspect that the way most responders interpreted this is something along the line of, "If these designed to be perfect, fetish inspiring paragons of desirability were real, and you had to compete with them for a boyfriend, do you think you could compete?". In which case, saying no is pretty reasonable. Only a percentage might have interpreted it the way we are interpreting it, as, "If your boyfriend had to choose between you and his gameboy, complete with his dating Sims, what would he rather have?". I question this surveys validity.

But, on the off chance I'm wrong, and Japanese guys are this obsessed, then I am totally willing to comfort said Japanese girls, and offer them some better self esteem, and a more attentive boyfriend.
