Finally. Buncha pricks.

I just hate this shit. If the servers are closing, just let them close. I can only imagine the hell that will be unleashed when the CoD4 servers are shut down.
THANK YOU!
Wow.

Such a simple, harmless thing to spark such weird and aimless hate. Did they take a dump in your cereal bowl?

Anywho, it's interesting to see this story finally come to a close. Awesome little bit of dedication this was
Aimless hate? No, Bungie gave them several months to play halo 2 before it's multiplayer was cut out. But even after all those months they still refused to get off and idk play THE SAME THING ON HALO 3! But no they stayed on, causing bungie to lose money. And for what? A lil game, it's people like this that take video games more serious then life.

What you have here is not an opinion. It's an attempt to look smart by disagreeing with others.

And, yes, disagreeing with a majority CAN make you intelligent. Unfortunately, your position here amounts to "HOW DARE THEY BE HAPPY, I HATE HAPPINESS, FUCK YOU GUYS!!1"

Congratulations.
What Onyx has here is an opinion.

What Geist has is an opinion.

Now we've established what an opinion is and isn't, can we return to arguing over whether what they're doing is moronic (this is also opinion) or courageous (this is bullshit)

Quite a noble title for an article about a bunch of guys refusing to turn off the TV. :p

In all seriousness though, I can't see why they'd make such a big deal about this. It's not like the game is unplayable now, you can still beat up your buddies if you invite 'em over andif that's not your cup of tea, just switch to the PC version.

EDIT: Since I'm being attacked for saying this in a manner I wasn't expecting...allow me to to try and clarify why I find these people to be pricks. Look, the PC version is still online. The game is old as hell at this point, and can basically run on any machine made in the last few years, so if you love it that damn much, just move on to the PC version.
Oh don't mind me and my PC enjoying every game realeased on it FOR ALL TIME.
Yep. Although why you would want to play old games, is another matter entirely. I for one, will likely not miss TF2 when TF3 comes out.
I'm sorry, but you come across as something of a consumer drone, with all the "Do as the dev say!" and "Move on to the next game regardless of quality!" talk. Why on Earth are you so into just doing as you are told?

Personally I found this whole thing rather silly, but I can certainly understand where they are coming from. I guess there is a reason I loathe consoles and the iron grip they put you in. How do people live with it?

As for the service they "abused" so horribly, I though people paid to play online on the X.box? If so, I hardly see how they are pricks for using a paid service. If not, then why on Earth did MS not just close the servers if it was such a huge problem?

Bottom line: nice work, those guys. You sure got the final enjoyment out of the games you paid for. Now I'll go back and play an old game online just to prove a point.
It's not "move on regardless of quality", it's "Move on, because your community is pretty much dead, and it's the same people every other match."
I like playing with the same people. That's why dedicateds are awesome!

I like meeting new people! :)

Except in co-op games. I never join random people in co-op games.

Stranger Danger! Yeah, but friending them is pointless if you never see them outside of game invites and joins.

Congratulations. This accounts for...nothing. Absolutely nothing. I wouldn't exactly call this the kind of story you tell your grand-kids about.

"Back in my day, we fought to hold our place. And we stood our ground proudly... Then my mom told me I needed to clean my room and get a job."
Just because something holds no value for you does not mean every other person finds it just as meaningless. The way you appear to be looking at it could be applied to just about anything, ever.

Yeah, but how many people can say they were the last people in the world to play Halo 2 over classic Live? That is one thing the computer version of Halo 2 could never have got them, and while it might be meaningless to some, maybe to these guys it meant something.

I'm just a pessimistic realist. If Microsoft needs to shut down a portion of their server that they deemed unneeded, then so be it. I mean, I'm a She-Hulk fanatic, but you don't hear me crying over the decisions Marvel or some writer is doing with the character. If I want to read a good She-Hulk story, then I will just have to read what I already have. If they want to keep playing Halo 2, then just go about it in a LAN party. There are alternatives; some are just too stubborn realize that.

It takes one to know one....so I guess you would be the king of that.

I salute what they did. Sad to see such an excellent game go.....but it will not die....I can promise you that.
do you find that stupid cat of an avatar funny because its retarded
onyx has twice the inttllengence that you do and is entitled to his own (right) opinion and your entitleed to your own (wrong) opinion and im entitled to my own (retarded) opinion
And defending someone who is more than capable of defending themselves is just "retarded" as well. Onyx doesn't need your help, and you don't need to tell anyone else on here that their OPINION is wrong or right. Don't try and get in good with some "veteran" on this site.

Get out of here you troll.

OT: I'm proud of these guys. Its really cool that they went the distance like that. I never thought I'd see such dedication in gaming, but thats one of our ways to show it. Did they have to stay active so they wouldn't get kicked by the way? Because if thats the case...then damn, those guys are hardcore.
How exactly were they being a troll? I don't believe he was trying to get in good with anyone. It looked more like he was trying to make a joke. But, if his post infuriated you that much than place him on ignore.

These guys were pretty dedicated to Halo 2 and I think that is pretty awesome. I wonder if they will be this dedicated when the Halo 3 servers shut down as well.

Cod4 has dedicated servers, so as long as someone is willing to host it won't every go away.
Damn... Stupid game...

Personally, I think it was stupid of them to keep playing on the servers. I mean, why do it? What incentive did they have? I'm glad this whole silly thing is over now.

I feel as if they should be compensated for their commitment somehow, like a free copy of halo:reach or something
