I've played all of the games, and the what i seemed to have gathered is that the forerunners made the halo rings as a last resort when the flood attacked. The covenant is using the rings for there own stupid cult, holding close to the same beliefs of our terrorists today, that if they commit suicide, heaven will be waiting for them. Humanity is just trying not to get the snot nuked out of them and stop the covenant. this i've gathered this from playing the first 2 halo games at my friends house and actually owning the 3rd. If this isn't the basic idea of the halo series, then they are sending some real mixed messages. I can only assume the books go into further detail or branch off into a completely different story
That is indeed the primary story. Halo: The Flood covers (or re-covers) the first game; aside from that, Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo: First Strike star the Master Chief right before and right after the first game (and H:TF) respectively, and the other books, games, and comic books are more tangentially related.
Is there something wrong with that?
other then the fact that should have applied that to gameplay, I suppose nothing is wrong with it. I see jiraiya's point, everyone has their own idea of better television, but my biggest problem is bungie. when the hell are they going to get over halo. a good game engine doesn't have to drive a franchise into the sanitorium, it does this revolutionary thing: Make a new dam game. They even said that halo 3 would end the series, yet there still trying to beat the work outta this pony with Halo wars and ODST. Move on Bungie, its done.

While I'm in no way, shape, or form familiar with the lore, the animation looks only slightly above average, and space marines shooting aliens and vice-versa doesn't seem especially elaborate as far as the story goes. But again, I'm in the dark about that, so I could be wrong.
The story is actually betther than people give it credit for, especially if you bother with the books. It's by no means a story driven series, but the story is at least slightly above average, and the universe is fantastic. It's enough that a good anime company should be able to do something great with it.

It isn't done. It will never be done until we say it is done (we meaning gamers as a whole). And we won't say it's done til we stop buying it. Think about it for a second. How many of those bloody RC Warthogs are they going to sell to our avatars? Halo will be until the next fad.

The trailer looks really well done. I was amazed at how much it looked like Gundamn but that makes a lot of sense given the whole shield mechanic in Halo.

It actualy made me want to play Halo for a minute. God damnit.

Even if they don't, there's still the Chief and an Elite dueling with energy swords, so I can't really complain ... except about that random teddy bear. That seemed a bit out of place, I feel.
The bear acts as two mandatory elements in modern combat anime: The first of which is a physical object that acts as both a way of humanizing a cold-hearted character and a symbol for a relationship that will be referenced in innumerable flashbacks.
The second is that all anime/video game franchaises require some sort of cute little icon. Atlus has Jack Frost, Dragon Quest has slimes, Square has chocobos and moogles.... And tonberries... and Moombas and cactuar... They have a sickening amount, really. .Hack has puchigos, Pokemon has even more than Final Fantasy, and Kojima somehow managed to get himself stuck with a cardboard box.
I have a feeling something tachikoma-like will happen with the grunts, but it doesn't quite work to have a keychain of an sd version of a creature that helped blow up your home planet.

Dear Lord, my fangirl is showing. I have to go hit her with a lead pipe for a while, k? If you see me "*flail*"ing, feel free to shoot me with a shotgun.

my god. you disgust me bungie. im not saying because of personal distaste for anime, but since bungie's an american company, and i feel as if they're just doing this cuz anime's a popular medium. however, i do remember bungie making an anime game, i think, so i might be wrong there
yeah, they made Oni, which was fucking awsome. So stop complaining, just because anime is japanese originally doesnt mean we cant use it as americans. The Animatrix was 10x better than the original matrix in my opinion, since it actually bothered to explain the matrix itself in a beautiful artistic way, using many different art styles.

And with such sick companies like Bones and I.G working on it, its a must see.
its not that there not american, its just that i dislike anime, but for some reason, no one else does, it seems for some reason it has become so popular (especially with my stupid, stupid generation) and it just makes me mad. the only anime i truly like wwould be Avatar, but thats not really an anime

sorry for double posting, but the worst is that don't even need to do this. the halo isn't very interesting, have you even read the books? they should make series (that aren't anime) to video games that have interesting stories, like assasin's creed, for example.

Good animation, as you said.
Looks interesting, and while Chief being a girl would be quite the tweest, his gender has been established in the books. Oh, well.
There actually were a fair number of female Spartans...

okay this is why i dislike anime, androgynys characters, mechs everywhere, transitions between 3d and 2d animation, stuff that doesnt have anything at all do to with the original plot (some random teddy bear key chain and a gay guy pointing a gun at a chick's head, WTF is goin on?!?) itd be tolerable if it followed the original plot(it might follow the plot of one of the books, but ive never read any of them because theyre not as entertaining as a videogame) and was animated more like dragonball z with manly men kickin the shit out of eachother with rockets and guns and no slow moments, since there are no slow moments in the games. but i prolly wont see it anyway

How should I say this, some people who just absolutely hate anime will go gaga over this. Though it's somehow not hypocritical at all! You know who you are. Sorry for the insults, but it's really pissing me off.

What I really like, however, is the musical accompaniment, especially at the beginning.
Halo isn't really about space marines fighting aliens. Its about the Halos and who created/used them, the angelic Humans who controlled the universe, but their arrogance in the face of a viral outbreak lead to their galactic mass suicide, and led to Modern day Humanity trying to reclaim their lost heritage, from an alien religion who wants to remain in power.

I'll say this once as nicely as I can: Bungie never said Halo 3 would be the last Halo game, they said it was the end of the storyline of the Halos (that is, the story they had been telling about the Halo array). They have now said that Halo: Reach will be their last Halo game. Obviously you feel differently but as long as Bungie were the ones making them I'd buy at least four more Halo games, and so would many other people, so they're definitely not just doing what the fans want. If you want to dispute that, they recently filed this [http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=77749483].

if he really was a girl somehow, that would pretty much be Metroid for ya.
