Seeing how summer just passed, everyone had to do summer reading assignments. Honors English had to read The Iliad and another book of their choice. Because of some miscommunications when picking my classes (Which is done in the middle of eighth grade. What the hell?!), I did not know I was in Honors English. I didn't find out until orientation.

Because of this, they expected me to read THE ILIAD in THREE DAYS Keep in mind that up until this point, I have never been taught how to read and understand classical literature, and that it's well over 600 pages, AND I had to write a report on it plus the OTHER book I read.

What the fuck, lady?
You realize this makes you Charlie Brown, right?
I did not. Care to explain for those who don't get the reference?

Every Wednesday and Thursday, we have extended class at my school and end up with about a half-hour of free time at the end of the day to catch up with classes and such. Or, if you're not behind, you can just drive home. Now they won't let us leave. Or even choose which room to be in so we can at least talk to friends. That's a half an hour at the end of the day, twice a week, most people have to spend sitting in silence.

Not the worst thing possible, but still... Why?

You get a 40 minute lunch and that is bad? We get 30 minutes and 4 of those minutes are getting back in class.
OT: My school has random laptop screenings and can look through personal info if they feel you are doing something your not supposed to do. I know it is their laptops and all but teenagers need some privacy.

Weird that I can remember these when I left school 4 years ago.
1) In my second to last year they put green metal gates up around the entire perimeter of the school. Kinda made us feel like we were in a prison (except for them being green obviously)
2) We weren't allowed to leave the school grounds during the lunch break unless we lived in town and had a signed slip from our head of year to prove it. I snuck out with some older friends in my first year. We went two minutes away from the grounds and got absolutely busted when we got back.
3) The last one is more about the students than the school itself. One (who I knew was an a****** anyway) was caught dealing drugs on the grounds so once at the end of the day everyone else saw the police waiting by the exit. The idiot tried to sneak past them (not a smart choice with the gates in place by then) so the police tackled him to the floor. It was actually kind of funny. The one other thing I remember was when I used to play the saxophone. My case came up to my waist and one day whilst standing at the bus stop, one of the older kids ran into me, sent me literally flying across the bus stop (i remember leaving the ground completely) and smacking back down with the case landing on top of me. Yeah.... that hurt.

The new years special. Chucky B had to read War and Peace in one night.

Yeah my school is now refusing to pay our bus fares and fired one of the smartest, most clever and awesome people I've ever met.

Also, they've only given me 3 classes per semester. This may seem like fun times, but I won't be able to graduate if I haven't taken more than that. This is all because of budget cuts, too. A fucking drunken dog could budget better than my godforsaken district.

So it's not really my school, it's just the local government handling money like a 5 year old. "Kids need to get to school? Nah, lets pay for more pom-poms for the fucking cheerleaders."

Get attacked by a douchebag? Have to defend yourself? Do you have security cameras and 43 witnesses saying you didn't start anything and don't deserve any punishment? Did you not do anything at all, curl up into a ball and wait for the attacker to get bored as per the rules? Too fucking bad, you're off to court with a mandatory one week OSS. It doesn't matter who starts it, doesn't matter if you do anything at all.
Wait your high school sent you to Officer's school for a week just because you fought? (I Jest) Seriously, this is the one thing that my Highschool absolutely loved to do, only they took it a notch farther by giving you Detention for three days just for watching the damn fight. It didn't help that their definition of watching was so skewed you'd get detention, just for walking by as the fight happens-regardless of if you glanced over or not.

My school is run by a bunch of broke neanderthals. When our levy to finance the school failed -- twice -- they cut buses.

Now my school is a traffic jam every morning and every afternoon, around 600 students and their parents jammed into two lanes to try to get in and out. Can take well over half an hour to even leave the parking lot.

Win state in football(American) 3 years in a row and get a completely new field that cost in the area of 1 million dollars while half the walls in the school arent even fucking complete. Priorities? Nah.

As with most schools, the students would occasionally have a bake sale or something to help raise money for the team or whatever. Nice school spirit yeah? Nope, the Principal allowed the manager of the canteen to take a cut of the proceeds to help make up for their lost sales.

The year I started at my secondary school they stopped this thing they had in place for years which meant that you leave 45 minutes early on tuesdays, the year after I leave, they bring it back.

Obiously thats not the worst thing, but it sure is irratating. (There's a bunch of other things but nothing I can specifically recall)

EDIT: Oh yeah I just remembered the line to the cafateria (which passes the entrance to the main hall) was only wide enough to allow 2 people to stand side by side, it was also the disabled access.

Also if you did not get food within the first fifteen minutes then there would be practically no food left, this is not a problem for years 10 and 11 but it made getting food a pain for most people in years 7 - 9.

And the main hall was used for assemblies which has 200 people in at once, and at the finish of each one they tried to funnel everyone out of the tiny doors at once.

Well not really my schools fault more the government's but we were told when I was in First year(going into college now) that we would have a new school by Fourth year. They also said that to the First years that came in 6 years before us. So 12 years on and no new school.

2 things
1) My elementary school had good pizza for a few months of third grade. Then they changed it to some shit that you can bang against a table. And it's so hard it won't even crack.

2) My Biology Honors class in high school this year has a double lab period about once a week. Most classes lose their gym class. MY class has to come to school half an hour early! Why? Don't f****** ask ask me! I don't think even my teacher knows why they did that.

Indeed they did.
A friend and I decided to switch schools instead of staying in the one we were in since a few months. The principal told us to wait at least another month before deciding, since . We did as he said, but woops. Turns out you can't change schools anymore!
Took a sabbathical when I found out he had screwed us over.

Fun fact; my grades actually went up during the time I wasn't in school. Awful, awful school...

I wouldn't call it a dick move, or even something they did to punish me or anything, but every school and I honestly mean EVERY school I've been to Have improved their facilities after I left them.

My Lower School? Refurbished once I was pushed off to Middle School.

My Middle School? promised for Three damn years that they'd improve the state of our break area and buy benches, what did they do the DAY the I left? Make those changes! does it really take three years to buy benches?!

My Upper School? Was a fucking cesspool of shit in practically all respects, what happens when I leave? They get a new headmaster(Turns out the old one was a bit shit, should'a seen that coming when he'd ride in his fucking car after us on the field during breaks...) and suddenly the whole place is reformed (or so I hear)...

Like I said, not necessarily dick moves since they were changes for better, but I can't help but wonder why they waited till my year was gone every time...

Back on my Upper School, a genuine dick move they pulled on us was making do this horse shit cross country walk/run/jog thing that was basically walking in a big, 11 mile long circle.
What did they do the following year? Decide that is wasn't worth doing any more, so thank you, Upper School, for deciding that torturing my year was fine, but doing it the next lot was cruel...

They banned all food from the outside world. Forcing us to eat the tripe they provided. And it was tripe.

The menu was mushy peas, toast, fruit bars, 0% fat soy yogurt.

needless to say there were hunger strikes in effect. All unsuccessful as far as I know. I dunno, I haven't been in school for years.

My old school, one of the teachers is basically ignoring me. I have bad grades in his subjects and he's not answering so I'm not able to change it either. I've tried talking with others at the school about it, but they don't do anything.

My college did, once. Well, one teacher did on the semester before I graduated. We had been given a final paper to write and the topic was law enforcement (I'm a CRJ major) and how has our time here and other outside experiences influenced us one way or another. I forget the topic exactly, but that's the general idea. It's unimportant anyway. The paper could be sourced through any means, including our own personal experiences. In fact, we could base the whole paper on personal experiences, and since my father, grandfather and many of family members our actively or retired from the practice, I thought that would be perfect since I had a lot to talk about on the subject.

So, I write the paper, turn it in, receive an F and a "See me" on it. At this point, I had an A- in the class, so failing wouldn't keep me from graduating, but I was still furious nonetheless. I visit my teacher the following day and he claims that, because I had no cited references, I effectively plagiarized the whole thing. The fuck? Since I used only my own experiences (and nothing else), I did not need them. This is obvious and the option was clearly spelled out on the paper's guidelines too. I was stunned.

I was furious and went off on him, threatening to my department's head because he was essentially going to keep me from graduating because of a fake plagiarize claim. I already hated this man and now I wanted to throw him out the window. Long story short, I called his bluff, used the paper's guidelines as proof that I was correct and if he didn't change the grade on the paper I was going to file a complaint and take him to the dean for our CRJ department. He gave me a "C-" and that dropped my grade to a "B". Fuck him and my college. I hated that place.

At least I graduated!
