Hologram - Useless
Hay umm I can say if Hologram is what it sounds like I just want to pop in and say it's not Useless. I am not sure about how the game works but if it's like the hologram form Resistance 3 multiplier it can be useful using a shotgun layout in close quarters you can fuck with the enemy so much. Like I said not sure how the game works but I think they can make it useful.

sniper>pistol>EVERYTHING ELSE

if you spawn near the pistol your set
i play halo one a lot at college and if i have a sniper and pistol i win
not due to skill (im not that good)

even the devs admit the pistol is op
thats why it was shite in aniversery
Thats like saying M16/AK in Counterstrike is imba, because they are the top choice of weapons for anyone with even a slight understanding of the game.

At higher tier play, every power weapon (basically 4; sniper, rockets, shotty, PR - I dont remember if Halo:CE needler was the OP one) needed to be controlled. The pistol was just the all rounder in a very, very, very small pool of weapons.

And I wouldn't ever trust devs to know balance, since from my experience they are the ones who usually fuck it up in the first place.

No way to tell how the balance will shape up until some actual details and some gameplay is released. Besides, balance is one of those things that can be tweaked. Quite frankly the balance has gotten better and better with each installment.

CE: Massively OP pistol
2: OP BR
3: Slightly OP BR
Reach: Pistol/AR spawns with DMR/NR pickups was almost perfect.

I'll reserve judgment but Halo's always been one of the best crafted franchises of all time and my personal favorite with Bungie at the helm. Without any context it does erk me just seeing things getting closer to CoD with instant "press X to respawn" and sprint being a natural function.

Campaign we'll have to wait and see how 343i handles it, mutliplayer should at least be solid but I've come to expect more than solid from Halo, the biggest room for improvement is left in Firefight IMO. It needs more objective type stuff mixed in to shake things up like Gears 3 has it's whole tower defense thing and ME3 has the objective waves.

Killing dudes endlessly gets boring too quickly compared to Gears or ME3. 343i needs to come up with something to throw in there.

Erm... I always played Halo's multiplayer because it was fun... Hell, Halo PC had the best multiplayer ever, and there were no goddamned rankings. You could host a game and do whatever you wanted in it. Me and a buddy would play 2 vs 8s because we could, and we wouldn't win but they'd be damned fun. I play these because there's some awesome stuff that can happen in Halo, K/D spreads be damned. If I want to play seriously I can do that, or I can run through some Action Sack playlists and enjoy myself. Or any combination of the above.

That's what makes Halo awesome.

Did you see the leaks from that magazine? Instant respawns, a perk that lets you see through walls, powerful weapons drop on the map in random position, class loadouts....

Its just not Halo anymore. Halo is dead.
has been dead since Combat Evolved anyways
>mfw Combat Evolved was the only one I've ever played although none after that got my attention, especially after 2 since they didn't came out on PC after it

Random weapon spawns seem good to me. No more players just memorising and rushing for the power weapons. Makes it more fair i think
Understand that you are the problem. K thx

I was pretty disappointed to hear the new Halo 4 details. But they might not be too bad.

Some of it could have been misconstrued. Like the moving weapon spawns, its beensaid that they'll actually move around to different spots predictably, which is kinda dumb but not too bad. it is even More for noobs to memorize but whatever. gets pepople moving around a bit more and changes what part of the map people are focusing on.

Personally I don't think it would be a bad idea if it was somewhat random like a respawn, except that the location of the drop becomes know like a minute or so before the pod gets there. That might be interesting I think.

Anyways, apparently people are saying no armor-lock, no bloom, hitscan BR, more grenades...

with a few good maps and some critical missing map remakes, its already GOT to be better than Reach.

Will I buy it automatically like I have every Halo ever? No, cause it might not be better than 3. ha

Opinions?
You make it sound like you've actually played the game and come to this conclusion after many hours of playing. But I'm pretty sure all you've seen is about ten total seconds of gameplay and a couple of people just talking about it.
How about you try waiting for a chance to try the gameplay before calling it horribly unbalanced. For one thing, random power weapon drops sound like a great idea so people who just wait for them to spawn don't have an advantage anymore.

I don't like the sound of Halo 4 much but I don't see how a single game can ruin a franchise. This game doesn't actually change the other Halo games.

Not sure if trolling.

Dude, stick to the Reach forum or 343i's forums if serious and stop making the Halo fanbase look bad. It's grown smaller yet better ever since CoD took off and since Reach the only blemishes are the overly nostalgic and hyper competitive types.

Everything I've seen so far about Halo 4 sounds promising, to be honest.
The only honest concern I have for it is if the story can keep up - I really enjoyed the single player campaigns in CE, 2 and 3. 4, however, has a few items which feel a little to much like a "retcon". I'm happy to wait and see.

For the multiplayer, I like the idea of Loadouts mixed with Weapon Drops. It ensures that you have a solid weapon of choice at hand, and it removes the timing requirement present in titles like Quake 3 for the drops.
This means it's more about on the fly adaptation - something that Halo 2 and Reach, in particular, really handled well - as opposed to the simple rinse-and-repeat gameplay, which Quake 3 can really bog down into at higher skill levels.

As for "forever ruining" Halo, Halo 4 looks promising - but it's with a cautious optimism. I think Microsoft and 343i are more than aware of our hesitation thanks to the departure of Bungie. I doubt they'll fuck it up.

Wow, sounds like you've played the game, or even watched a Let'sPlay. Except... wait... the game isn't out yet so you couldn't possibly know.

Just to simply milk the cash cow that is first person shooters right now, instead of being innovative. Halo 4 will essentially be a re-skin of Reach. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, people are stupid enough to fork out $64 every year for a re-skinned game then do it.
?

How about we all calm down and wait for actual gameplay.

Also, Reach was the best Halo game, it wasn't a reskin and you are acting a little crazy
I kind of thought he was trolling to be honest...
Maybe he's not I guess, I dunno.
Anyway, load outs doesn't seem like that bad of a thing to me but I am a little concerned about the random weapon drops. Hopefully they find a way to do this without putting too much luck into the game.
My main concern is the campaign. Them saying they are going to actually try and develop Master Chief's character more is honestly a good sign.

I really had no intention of playing Halo 4 ever to be honest. Halo 3 had a great ending that was satisfying and provided enough closure to make me feel that the series was 'over' and as huge of a Halo fanboy as I am, I won't be interested in any continuation.

But yes from the sounds of things, what makes Halo 'Halo' seems to be dissappearing in Halo 4's gameplay, at least if that article is to be believed.

P.S you know I must be getting more jaded when even giant pictures of the mighty and holy SANGHEILI in the article don't make me leap with excitement.

Perhaps one should play it before condemning it. Having said that, I still have Reach so I don't care :p.

I'm surprised you're taking the news that they're not in multiplayer well :p.

I saw an article on ign similar to this its a shame that 343 are following the trend of what sells and turning it into call of halo.

Wow, what condescension. Who are you to call people stupid for how they spend their money? If somebody thinks that there's $60 worth of value in the game then who are you to say they're wrong? I'm so sick of this whinning coming from some of the community.

It's turned into a small community of mostly casual gamers, noobs and children. That's a better community for a game that was KNOWN for having an enormous fanbase and following that included every imiganible type of player?

How can you possibly defend that?!!
Bungie tossed their own brand in the toliet with Reach cause everyone who knows Halo knows that game was the WoRST of the series by far.

Obvious when you listen to the fans, see how few are even left, or play the p.o.s.

I'm not allowed to be serious about what used to be my favorite game before Bungie killed it?

Try answering my questions foo! get owned like you's would at Halo. Yes any of them, even crap-reach! :p

The foolproof way to enjoy the Halo universe.

Step 1
Erase the storyline of Halo Reach from memory
Step 2
Read the Books

O wait you enjoy the gameplay of halo instead of the story.

Here is the foolproof version of enjoying gameplay.
Step 1
Go online
Step 2
Get trolled
Step 3
Enjoy some tea bagging

I was getting pretty irritated with the 1 step forward 4 steps back system that was Halo 3's ranking system. I don't remember specifically but I think it ended up being that you had to win 20 games in a row or something to reach the next level at the rank I was at but any time you lost a game it took a few wins away from the rank I'd had already achieved. Which isn't a problem if you're one of those smug people to whom winning every match you play comes totally naturally and requires no effort but for those who have to try its really frustrating to be having a great set of games and then you get into a match against a bunch of people who just want to camp with the sniper rifle and shot gun the whole time and the other people on your team aren't willing to adjust the way they play to compensate for that. I do agree that the COD ranking system is pretty lame since everything about it can be achieved over time with minimal skill.
