Have you ever bought two copies of the same game on multiple platforms?

Only with Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 (Ps3). Because I wanted to play the second one with a carried over Shepard.

I bought Oblivion for PS3 as soon as it came out, borrowed it for XBOX and bought it cheap for PC so I could play Nehrim.

I have Fallout 3 on both the 360 and the PS3. I also have The Sims 3 on the PC as well as my PS3. I don't know why really, especially with Fallout 3, because it is the exact same game. I'm pretty sure The Sims is slightly different on the PC than the PS3, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, I have done that because really good games shouldn't be limited to one console.
For me, those games include Mass Effect 2, Batman Arkham Asylum, GTA 4, Saints Row 2, the Tomb Raider trilogy, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age: Origins.

Quake 4 (PC/PC) - Ease of having it on Steam rather than hunting down all the CDs.
You do know they removed the disk check, right? Quake 4 has been running diskless for a long time now.
But I'd need to hunt down the discs to install it, and just reformatted... Having it on Steam helps a lot, anyway. I have so many games I can't remember which they are or where they are, or even if they are installed. :/
Yeah, that is a fair point. And part of the reason I've picked up several duplicate games on steam over the years.

All the games I had for my 360 I got again for my PC.

I moved over to full time PC gaming so had to redo my entire collection.
Uh... why'd you do that? You are aware that you can game on more than one platform at once, right? Well obviously not at the EXACT same time, but you know what I mean. Your PC isn't going to get jealous if you decide to go back and play on your 360 every once and a while.
Sorry my mistake.

Should have mentioned I gave my 360 to my son.

He hit the age where he wanted to start gaming and it saved us buying a new one (we're chap I know) so he took it up to his room.

Ah, I see. Ok that makes more sense.

Your not alone i had a huge nagging in the back of my head when C&C Red Alert 3 came out back in 2008 i started off with the 360 version did some background searching and found by the time the PS3 version came out the 360 version was the worst out of the PS3 and PC, PC being the highest and the PS3 had improved visuals albeit slightly improved unit and water graphics+ soundtrack, unit info and extra video and map content but the pc had the full spec details plus the recent mod i play it with improved the PC version ten fold while the 360 version was only the basic elements of the game and had poor shoddy visuals, glitches abound and poor path finding and not to mention the command wheel for controlling the units wasn't nearly as good as the PS3 version.

In a short note i bought all 3 versions and still own all 3 for various reasons but these days i mainly play the PC version because the community is still alive and being able to mod the game improved performance and visuals and adds more replayability to the game.

I also bought Transformers War for Cybertron for PS3 first without knowing it was the worst of the versions before moving to the 360 version which was sub par at best while the PC version lacked much support so the 360 version is pretty much just about middle ground.

Whenever i decide in the future of which version of a game i wish to buy i'd have to look up how well the game performs on each console along with it's support and content that could possibly come along with it.

I have. Three separate games, actually. I own Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 and Team Fortress 2 for both Xbox 360 and PC.

TF2 on Steam and PS3
Dante's Inferno on PS3 and 360
Lego Star Wars on PS3 and 360
will soon have Fallout 3 and New Vegas on Steam and have them both for PS3
same with Bioshock
I'm sure there is more if I cared to look through my games and not do this off the top of my head.
Basically I am an achievement whore......

Yes, we have two copies of the first Dragon Age at my house; one on PC and one on PS3 my wife, she does not like playing games on PC at all but i really wanted to play DA on PC... We got each other DA for Christmas the year it came out. Since then, because that felt like a waste of money, if it's something i know she'll want and it's available for ps3 that's what i get it for.

Half-Life.

Got it on PC in software form when it first came out, the PS2 version later on when my PC took a crap, the Steam version even later on after that, and HL:Source in a fit of drunken impulse sometime not long after. Okay, so it's really the same game three times on one platform and again on another, but.....eh.

If it were to ever see an XBLArcade release by some strange confluence of events, well, I'd probably buy that one too...

Yes, a few Mario games:
Super Mario Bros. for the NES and Game Boy Color.
Mario 3 for the NES and Game Boy Advance.
Mario World for the Super NES and Game Boy Advance.
Lost Levels from the Wii Virtual Console.
And of course, I got Super Mario All-Stars on the Super Nintendo, so I technically have THREE copies of Mario 1 and Mario 3, as well as two copies of Lost Levels.

I also own Kirby's Adventure and its GBA remake, Nightmare in Dreamland.

This was all before I decided that I shouldn't have to pay for the same game I already own. I don't own any copies of Ocarina of Time, but if I ever wanted to play it, I would just play it on the Wii Virtual Console for $10.

Yep:

Dragon Age Origins (360, PC). Had the vanilla version on the 360, and to be frank, it sucked something fierce, but it was at least tolerable. This was long before I had a gaming PC. Once I got my current computer, I gor DAO again (ultimate edition) and had a much better experience.

Both Mass Effect games and respective DLC (360, PC). I enjoyed them with the 360, so I bought them again when I got my current PC (and I enjoy the games more because they look 5x better on my monitor (and having my skills hotkeyed, which is like 7 different kinds of awesome.

Fallout New Vegas (360, PC). I had a moderately decent experience, but the game froze all the stinking time on the 360. Since I have it for the PC, I'm never gonna play it on the 360 again.

Those are the ones I like. I've bought Darksiders and Far Cry 2 via Steam because they were on sale. The former was decent, but not worth a playthrough on the PC since I know where just about everything was from my playthrough on the 360 version. The latter sucked so, so much.
