Quite a few times. Spam bots, abusive replies, low content answers, adverts, looked at me the wrong way (I kid). It's a powerful function, and the mods don't pick up on everything.

I wonder if I've ever been reported?

Look it was before I knew you and......I'm sorry.

I only report spammers or things like that. But I usually ignore stupid posts or anything like that. I think it's a great feature especially for people who are more easily offended than me. It can ruin a good atmosphere when you have a rude jerk.

Trolls, racists, homophobes and advertisers (especially ones from Ansblog) are what I report.

I ignore personal insults, because they aren't directed at me, and if they were I'd still ignore them, unless they were trollish, racist, homophobic or advertising something of course.
Trolls, racists, and homophobes are all subjective. Even in an obvious case, it's still just an opinion. I know the rules might say otherwise, but I don't feel right censoring someone else's opinion. Not that I'm saying you're wrong to do so, that's just me personally.
Well, I admit some people are accused of being... I think the phrase was "well-disguised trolls", and I'd assume they are more honest opinion types with perhaps just a way of writing that may provoke some, or even just if their opinion is a minority one. I hope that wasn't a Warren Harding sentence there.

I'm fairly certain though if you have someone who comes on to post: "LOL Halo sux, CoD iis best. u r all Halo fags", then censorship only helps my eyes (as I can't read grammatically destroyed sentences very well).

I like it when opinions are more civilised. Most people I know with inflammatory opinions keep it cool.

Homophobes and racists can quite easily conceal the fact they are homophobic or racist. Spouting hate speech which they know is going to rile everyone up is just asking for a banning.

I understand your opinion though on the matter.

It's fun to be civilised about things. Now I feel the urge to buy a top hat.

The only time that I remember reporting someone is when they posted a link on more than one of their posts to that Rick Astley video.
The annoying part is that it wouldn't let you go back, so you had to close the web browser.

I used to report people quite a lot; it doesn't seem nessecary so much. Which speaks to The 'pist in itself, I think.

Oh, and concerning the "have I ever been reported" question; I'm reasonably certain I've been reported at least once; said person got banned ten minutes later, though.

Rather often, and I report the profile with spammers or someone who's getting really aggressive and rude in a thread.

I also wonder this, though considering that I never received mod wrath (hence my Neo badge) despite a few instances of being an outright asshole, probably not very much.

I haven't reported anyone yet, because I'm a nice person. :)
But if there is something really offensive or racistic or something like that, I won't hesitate about pushing the magical red "Report"-button.

I report..and that's only in the following cases: obvious trolling and advertisements, idiots who'd rather call everyone names rather than contribute to a conversation, and people who spam just to get their post count up and be like the "celebrites" on this site.

Indeed. (Puffs on pipe) I haven't heard the name Warren Harding conjured up in over a fortnight. Who shall we exploit tonight, old chap, orphans or the aboriginals?

Amazingly enough, spellcheck insists that aboriginals is a word.

Plenty of times

I watch flamewars develop, and alert the mods the second the attacks get personal, rather than ideological

I also report Picture-only or "lol" or "this" posts, though I only report picture-only when they're just being childish and stupid

Generally, I report anything I'm even MIDLY concerned about, because the mods tell us that a false alarm is better than none, so I try to help them

BECAUSE NOONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION

I report everyone and anything I find offensive, badly expressed, lacking in content and most of the things written in the rules and quite a bit beyond those, even.

I never report people for personal disputes or because I have some sort of grudge against said person. I don't report them because I dislike their opinion. I'm not some extremely sensitive person who takes offence at everything he sees. There are no personal feelings in reporting people, it's strictly business.

I am, however, a slightly over-zealous servant of justice, seeking only to punish those who deserve it. I do what I consider is right.

I believe I was reported many, many times. They just decided that I was either not worth the trouble of being banned, or simply didn't see offensive content in my posts.

If someone is being an obvious dick, then yeah, or just being stupid (ie. quoting someone but not writing something themselves).
I don't find myself having to do this often thankfully.

On these forums? No usually other people beat me to it. In real life? Yes. I once saw a (censored) speeding down the road passing people illegally the whole nine yards. I followed the prick home and called the cops. Why? Because the next time he passes someone illegally going up a blind hill I might be the one coming up on the opposite side of that hill.

I have only done it once and I regret it. I think reporting is cowardly. It also seems like a way for us to do the staff's job. Thats why they have the red guard. If you have a probelm with someone, tell them. Reporting seems to me like running and telling your mom that someone is bullying you.

I will never report anyone. EVER. So feel free to say whatever the hell you want to me, I don't mind.

I've never on any forum felt the neccessity to report anyone. The obvious trolls tend to be ... obvious ... and the less offenisve stuff I will just ignore for the most part. I do wish these forums had a function to ignore users, though.
I'm right behind you on that one...but oh well, at least the mods are quick to act in most situations.

OT: I report trolls...but that's the mod sense in me tingling...has it really been a year since I was mod...?

Um...not too often. I never report people who call me names etc. I find that rather amusing and just part of how things go. I have reported blatant racism on here. Other than that...i live by the code of "im a big boy and i can take it...reporting is for sissys". Thats me though.
Why are we the only two people on here who think this way. What you said to get probation needed to be said. Whatever.
