Anyways, the only thing that impresses me in this trailer is the look of the island.

I still say the game is going to be sub par other than that. The game still needs to decide whether it's serious (bad idea in my opinion) or funny, the combat looks sluggish, the fatigue bar in the middle of the screen is ugly and distracting, the idea that the guy is that worried about fighting off too many zombies because of his fatigue just sounds annoying, and the voice acting and writing is some of the worst I've heard in a long time ("I set you free"? Really?)

Not only that, how in the hell does throwing a bat at a gas canister cause it too explode? At least it's kind of more realistic for it to happen when it's shot...
Glad to see I'm not the only one noticing the glaring grammatical errors in the script... and lack of logic in a baseball bat making a propane tank explode. Those things are meant to be solid.

And I can't really see why some people are saying this looks good when the attention to detail is worse than that in L4D2 and that runs on a seven year old engine based on a seventeen year old engine.

Looks good, thought they were going to go for a more dramatic survival horror style game after the trailer, but I do like my beat-em ups too. I'm just glad they kept the multi-layer zombie effects and are actually releasing the damn game, I've been waiting for this since I read about it in PC Gamer 4 years ago. I'm glad they actually threw in the fatigue bar, it should help to prevent a 'just constantly hit a guy' style of gameplay.

I think the environment looks great. The people look like shit, though.

But, as I've said before (not here), my biggest issue with the game by far is that it seems to be taking itself too seriously.

Look everyone! Bloom! Yay! And I'm disappointed in the lack of reverse footage kills of zombies. The trailer had me all pumped for little zombie girls getting flung out windows, and there seems to be a distinct lack of that happening...

Looks fun, but not at all what I expected. I thought it would be creepier, with more of a horror survival feel to it. This looks... rather campy. Dead rising in first person, basically. Still fun, but not what I was hoping for.
It also looks too clean. I know judging graphics from trailers generally isn't a good idea, but look at that road. There doesn't seem to be any detail, there's some trash on the sides but most of the roads are just big grey surfaces with a couple of black lines to give the illusion of cracks. I would've liked it to look a bit dirtier and more damaged. That's kinda nitpicking though.
Overall, I'm not terribly impressed. It looks like a fun game to waste a few hours in, but I was hoping for something a bit more awesome than that.

As long as my guy gets better, and can eventually just pummel zombies to death with his fists, I could definitely see getting this.

Where the hell is my dark, atmospheric zombie game?!

Damn you all, I hope you get infected with the T virus!

Oh well, the bastard child of Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising will have some fans I guess.

EDIT: Why can't I get a bastard child of Amnesia and Resident Evil???
I actually think the game is quite atmospheric, and am pleased that we have a horror game that doesn't take place in some dark corridor that no one in their right mind would ever want to visit.

So.. free-roaming world, 'Comdemned'-style fighting against zombie enemies along with plenty of interactive NPCs... I'm in.
Don't really care for super-powered/fast zombies,... but gameplay variety is more important than my slavish Romeroism.

This game is looking more 'Planet Terror' than 'Walking Dead', but the four player co-op is enough to excuse the electrified machetes, exploding knives and hopefully all those XP pop-ups.

you can craft electric machetes and explosive C4 knives but it's hard to find or use a gun? really ?
THIS!!!

seriously,... how the hell are guns rarer than C4? C4 is not for civilian use,... C4 is for military Purposes only... where there's military, there's guns...

COME ON!!!

Ehhh, I think I'll pass on this game. I'm still waiting for Fallout and Left 4 Dead to team up to make the greatest zombie rpg of all time.

Something about the way they make the game "realistic" doesn't sit good with me either. I mean they toke the time to include a stamina bar and somewhat realistic driving, although electric machete's, propane exploding baseball bats that go undamaged after resulting explosion, and c4 throwing knives go unexplained.

This is pretty much what I was thinking.

I don't think this will be a BAD game, but it's certainly not a true zombie game as I was hoping for.

(also the first bit with the gun..it looked like Black Ops)
WOW, WOW, WOW! That is taking it a bit too far sister! Ok sure it has crafting but hey! More weapons = double the fun! Also, 4 player co-op... How exactly is that like Left 4 dead? After all it's in a big open environment and I can see why you'd think it was crafted by Bethesda... Wait isn't that a compliment!? But why on earth in mother of super mega death christ 2000 BC 4.0 beta would you think it looks like black ops!? Why compare a nice zombie shooter with free-roam with the disgusting scythe hole ridden piece of ass that's call of duty: black ops!? Lots of games have first person shooting in them but you thought the game was so bad that you had to compare it black ops? You aren't mental!
Eh...I meant that those 2 seconds LITERALLY looked right out of black ops. The experience popping up helped do that too. You are the one taking it too far. I did not say the whole game looked like Black Ops, just those 2 very quick seconds with a gun that looked like it was from Black Ops, shooting someone and then experience popping up. Sheesh/

Lemme see if I can find my older comment... Here we go.

My opinion, semi disappointed. In the four extra years they've had on the game, it doesn't seem like they spent too much time in amping up the graphics. It literally does look like a game from four years ago.

Also rather concerned with their choice of putting health bars on the zombies. It makes it look more RPGie than necessary, and takes away from the gravity of the situation. This comes from me having four years worth of high expectations and leading myself onto how cool of a game this could be, but I was expecting some crazy shit.

Hopefully that dust and weather effect is random. Kinda looked like a cheap way they were taking pressure off of the engine.

Gunplay needs work. For guns not being a primary part in the game, they need to feel much more real and powerful.

All in all, it seems like it pulled a borderlands and started taking itself less seriously then it should have. RPG elements, damage indicators popping up on screen, and personally, I didn't think there were nearly enough zombies.

Still looking forward to it, and I might even enjoy it more now that I won't particularly care for it.
