*sigh*
the collective IQ mankind has apparently dropped another dozen or so points since the last time I looked.
Indeed, what is the point? Besides to use digital lesbians and rendered breasts to make a ludicrous amount of money more than what GoW III would have already made. Honestly, I feel ashamed by association to belong to the male side of humanity, because I know not just one, or two, but several cpies of the game will be sold based on that alone.
Just when I was hoping that humanity might have some hope after all... But no, implication of sex and a poor female actor voicing some uuhs and aahhs is still a surefire way to make bucketloads of money from gamers.
While this is a belated reply, why do you feel ashamed to be on the male side of humanity here? You do realize that women are just as bad, if not actually worse when it comes to this kind of thing, right? How many romance novels have been sold due to pictures of Fabio on the cover, not to mention the whole "Vampire Porn"/"Paranormal Romance" genere which eventualy lead to things like "Twilight" which has been sold largely off of male sexuality (studdly werewolf boys! oh my god look at them all lined up....). Not to mention Anne Rice's books which could be called the ultimate quest for a girl to write the ultimate gay male orgasm
for the amusement of women.
Now I suppose it could be said that you feel some shame for humanity for being so governed by our sex drives, but then again we've been wired that way (both genders) through a very long process of evolution.
Will this game sell for that one scene? Well, we've already seen it for free.
Besides which I figure God Of War is going on the fanboy factor as much as anything. Bayonetta was more sexualized overall, and Dante's Inferno has breasts a poppin since day #1. God Of War is likely to outsell both of them. Personally out of the competing brawlers the only one I decided to get new was Dante's Inferno since I kind of thought the premise was cool.
Simply my thoughts on the situation.
Besides, it's my opinion that this wasn't much of a sex scene overall, especially not for an M - R rating. It doesn't deserve the attention it's getting simply for being in a video game. When someone in the industry finally has the guts to push things as far, or further than Hollywood has within the guidelines for that rating it will be newsworthy, until then this is just a promotional gimmick.
It was however slightly more entertaining than some of those odd dancing Bayonetta videos which seemed to be inspired by "Stalin Vs. The Martians" and it's virtal marketing attempt, though less funny.
