That was...pretty hilariously horrible. I'm not even complaining because it was a sex scene, I'm complaining because it was such a poorly voiced and ludicrously overacted piece of fanservice. I spent the duration of clip simultaneously facepalming and laughing my ass off. It's just so ridiculously forced, so un-sexy, screaming "LOOK POLYGONAL BOOBIES" and serving absolutely no other purpose.

Also, Kratos sure got his pants off quickly.
At least (imo) the sex scene in Mass effect, even though you didn't see anything was done tastefully, and I'm not ashamed to say I found it pretty damn erotic. My Love Interest was Liara btw.
Mass Effect's sex scene was something that tied directly to the story, being the culmination of the optional romantic sideplot. It definitely had meaning for all characters involved, it was not excessively overacted, and the nudity was mild yet suggestive. Bioware did it right. This is just a cheap attempt at giving some lonely high-schooler a boner by having random bystanders with absolutely no effect on the narrative wave their tits around while the screen shakes. It's unintentionally funny, but it's not erotic and certainly not necessary.
Well put, I couldn't agree more and I'm so sick of developers using "controversy" to get their crap (or in this case, absolute) to sell millions of units on that alone.

Why the hell do some many people need to "change their pants" after this. We don't see anything for Pete's sake.

Although I did like the part where the girl in the middle ***** slaps the girl on the right.

"Begone" *whap*

Nice to see someone finally put sex in a mainstream game, I was getting sick of conservative society.

I can imagine this causing some controversy though...
*Cough* MASS EFFECT *Cough* Anyway, there is NOTHING wrong with putting sex in games, so long as your doing it too Push the artistic envelope of what you think should be. and not just to attract the occasional hormone filled teenager.

Well, that was probably the most pathetic thing that I have seen in recent memory. Hey! God of War 3 fans! The publishers reckon you to a demographic that is never going to get laid so you have to get your jollies with QTE.

Ugh, this really does drag the series down in terms of respectability...
I mean, I've seen bad acting, but this... I didn't know women in ancient times spoke with American 90s teen accents! Just add some mentions of 'the Gods' this and 'blessed' that, and it's automatically relevant. A rule of sophisticated fiction: only have a sex scene if it serves to develop characters/plot, otherwise it is porn.

Someone made an argument really early in the thread about how sex scenes like this one and those featured in its predecessors make Kratos appear more "human". I fail to see how; Kratos is just not designed to be sympathized with (hell, I think I can safely say that Dante (DI, not DMC) is a more believable character than Kratos). David Jaffe and several other developers said (or implied, rather) that in the first game themselves. Kratos designed to kill stuff and look cool doing it - that's really about it. That's why the scenes involving his family play out so awkwardly.
Save maybe Chains of Olympus where he's running through the Elysium Fields trying to find his daughter, but man is that a stretch.

But whatever. As far as the video itself, it was just as underwhelming as in the previous games (but hey, extra orbs to upgrade was always nice). Though I did find the part towards the end where the one girl pushed down the other and promptly proceeded to -ahem- go downtown to Chinatown rather amusing. [shrugs]

Still debating whether or not to get a PS3 and pick this up, but I'm wondering if it'd truly be worth it...

Pretty funny, but I did not see the sexiness some others early in the post saw.
After the bra fumbling in Heavy Rain, this seems too easy. Is banging really so easy for him?

Oh good grief that's funny... notice the "rotate the analog stick" prompt. There's only one move I can think of that would involve that and its -not- classy..

Reading through a lot of this makes me wonder how many people actually played the previous GoW games. I own all three of them, and they all have the quick time event sex scene that pans away to something else and if you do it right you get bonus red orbs for upgrades. It's nothing new, it's an easter egg, a funny little extra they have added to all of them and not the cheap gimmick everyone decries it as to get more money out of horny teens. It's flipping God of War, they don't need cheap gimmicks when you already have a game where you can rip a man's skull out of his head and beat him to death with it.

It's supposed to be funny, over the top and cheesy to go with the copious amounts of over the top, cheesy bloodshed. As a chick I'm usually the first to decry the use of the skin show to try and sell a crummy product or mislead the simple minded population, but the GoW franchise has already established itself and what it is.

Umm, a bit pointless if you ask me.
I mean, there are games that at least build up the relationships between the characters before such scenes like Mass Effect or Heavy Rain (yes, I won't shut up about this game, don't even bother). And then there is this.
Okay, it's outta context but the scene just screams "Hey! LESBIANS!".
I failed to see the "point".
Thats because the Point is off-screen

*sigh*

the collective IQ mankind has apparently dropped another dozen or so points since the last time I looked.

Indeed, what is the point? Besides to use digital lesbians and rendered breasts to make a ludicrous amount of money more than what GoW III would have already made. Honestly, I feel ashamed by association to belong to the male side of humanity, because I know not just one, or two, but several cpies of the game will be sold based on that alone.

Just when I was hoping that humanity might have some hope after all... But no, implication of sex and a poor female actor voicing some uuhs and aahhs is still a surefire way to make bucketloads of money from gamers.
While this is a belated reply, why do you feel ashamed to be on the male side of humanity here? You do realize that women are just as bad, if not actually worse when it comes to this kind of thing, right? How many romance novels have been sold due to pictures of Fabio on the cover, not to mention the whole "Vampire Porn"/"Paranormal Romance" genere which eventualy lead to things like "Twilight" which has been sold largely off of male sexuality (studdly werewolf boys! oh my god look at them all lined up....). Not to mention Anne Rice's books which could be called the ultimate quest for a girl to write the ultimate gay male orgasm
for the amusement of women.

Now I suppose it could be said that you feel some shame for humanity for being so governed by our sex drives, but then again we've been wired that way (both genders) through a very long process of evolution.

Will this game sell for that one scene? Well, we've already seen it for free. :p

Besides which I figure God Of War is going on the fanboy factor as much as anything. Bayonetta was more sexualized overall, and Dante's Inferno has breasts a poppin since day #1. God Of War is likely to outsell both of them. Personally out of the competing brawlers the only one I decided to get new was Dante's Inferno since I kind of thought the premise was cool.

Simply my thoughts on the situation.

Besides, it's my opinion that this wasn't much of a sex scene overall, especially not for an M - R rating. It doesn't deserve the attention it's getting simply for being in a video game. When someone in the industry finally has the guts to push things as far, or further than Hollywood has within the guidelines for that rating it will be newsworthy, until then this is just a promotional gimmick.

It was however slightly more entertaining than some of those odd dancing Bayonetta videos which seemed to be inspired by "Stalin Vs. The Martians" and it's virtal marketing attempt, though less funny. :p

This seems to be a hilariously sexy parody of sex in video games. Okay, sure we get to see boobs and lesbian kissing but the actual porn is cut out and instead we rely on the word-of-mouth of two horny voyeurs. You get to participate in the event by using quick-time events which cause the on-lookers to get a better reaction and make comments on your sexual prowess while hearing a slashing sound effect giving a sense of action. Then it implies the voyeurs also have sex while we cut back to the satiated sexual partner adding to the erotic mood of the scene but in a cheesy over-the-top manner.

Nice.

You don't seem to know what a 'conservative society' is. Also, you seem to not have heard of the first two God of War games, or other, earlier games, like Tales of Phantasia, or maybe a few of the brown-box games for the Atari, Like 'Custer's Revenge'. Among others.
