You've got to read between the lines here. It's the best media YOU have ever viewed.

They are, of course, assuming that you are a Cro-Magnon, recently arrived in the year 2011 through the use of some time travel device, or perhaps a naturally-occurring cryogenic preservation process.

Such is the mind of the marketeer. To delude others you must first delude yourself.

EDIT: Yeah... I really don't have a lot of respect for the professions of sales and marketing. That could just be because they're the ones that get all the chicks and money, but there you go.

They're pretty cocky for the makers of a game that's only good when compared to other Wii games. But when it comes out to play with 360, PS3, and PC games, it gets ground into the dirt like the pile of poo it really is. I mean come on, really?

I think the likes of Killzone 3, Uncharted 2, and many more games would no longer have an ass due to having laughed it off upon reading such a ridiculous statement.

And great job, High Voltage, because now you just made all the reviews of your game that much more negative because it won't live up to such nonsense claims.

What's it with publishers these days, hyping their games to such a degree that they can't possibly meet the expectations?

It's marketing 101: Over-sell, under-deliver!

I'm gonna try and be positive this time and hope High Voltage does well. While it's true they seem overconfident, the first conduit was... um... functional(mostly) and with the mechanics improvements I think they might actually do a good job. (unless they included a SCAR, in my experience, any FPS that includes a SCAR has been crap, it's like the gun is bad luck or something...)

I thought that this was a funny idea until I read the letter. The joke was dead after the first paragraph, but that didn't stop them, apparently.

Seriously, though, this would only work if the game in question wasn't a sequel. It's just kind of weird saying this about a game that has already shown its decidedly un-awesomeness in the form of its prequel.

I remember The Conduit. It was...standard. Not revolutionary, not terrible. Did pretty well with the controls, all things considered, but there was that whole "I can't look up!" problem. Has that been fixed?

I remember The Conduit being below average: most of the shooter elements were done before, and better, in other games, and it's one neat idea, the whole 'hidden Washington D.C. conspiracy' angle that was supposed to have secret tunnels and such, was relegated to an annoying side-quest puzzle mini-game based around that annoying sphere that beeped everytime you were near a hidden door (which always led to an ammo cache, never anything interesting), the sound of which always distracted me while the hidden-on-ceiling monster-maker, which I couldn't have possibly seen without going to the opposite side of the room and looking partly up, popped out another dozen alien midgets that killed my ass. In short, it was a game that thoroughly bungled it's every aspect.

So, yeah, I'm not holding my breath for Conduit 2 being any good, no matter how much they're trying to ape the Bulletstorm/Duke Nukem tongue-in-cheek jackassery (and badly at that).

It wasn't good even compared to Wii games. Zelda, Mario, The Bigs, Metroid Prime 3, and even the thoroughly-average Silent Hill: Shattered Memories can all attest to that. It's just another notch on the crap-to-good ratio for the Wii, unfortunately.

I could imagine a letter like this coming from a game like Bulletstorm which was marketed as way over the top, for this game it just sounds bad.

They want to claim that a Sega game on the Wii will be the greatest game of all time? Why don't they just claim "it will actually be a good Wii game"? That goal might actually be achievable.
