That's crazy talk. Why would anyone suffer through that kind of punishment willingly?j0frenzy said:You guys know what's going to happen? Months from now a court is going to hold a pre-trial hearing, the judge is going to find no logical basis for this to go through and throw out the case. We are going to hear nothing of it ever again but in the meantime hear about 20 other people who filed a lawsuit that people are going to use as a basis to say that all lawsuits are evil and never realize that those too are never actually going to go to trial. Either that, or he is going to present some legitimate evidence at his trial and we still aren't going to hear about it. You know what, I just got a brilliant idea. Why don't we have these highly trained professionals whose job it is to hear the arguments of a lawsuit and decide on the merits. If there is grounds for a legitimate argument then he sends the case on for a full jury trial and if there isn't then he dismisses the case. Or we could have a group of people whose whole job is based around finding less than 1% of all cases that are crazy and use that to present a skewed representation of the American legal system.
Honestly, the 250 million is probably a negotiating tactic, that is assuming his lawyers are sane-ish. Still, 250 million, I swear that number looks like someone accidentally scored a couple extra zeros on there by mistake.j0frenzy said:Also, while I am generally a fan of punitive damages, this guy is seriously asking for way too much money for just a side character unless he has some strong evidence. I recognize the number they put on these lawsuits when they file them are entirely arbitrary, but still, if he has any actual evidence to back this claim up, he is going to regret that number when Rockstar's lawyers harp on it and call into question his character.
A better bargaining position would honestly be within the 100k range. You are then talking about a small enough number that the corporate lawyers would sit down and make a quick settlement for half that amount. Nuisance suits are pretty much based around the idea of making it more cost effective to make the suit go away then actually go to court over it. That large amount screams for attention and wants Rockstar to realize that they are dealing with serious money, which is only going to make them not want to deal more out of indignation. Then again, I have no actual experience with negotiating these things. Given the evidence currently presented though, I would say Rockstar's best option is just to file a pre-trial motion to dismiss the case and not talk with this guy.Starke said:Honestly, the 250 million is probably a negotiating tactic, that is assuming his lawyers are sane-ish. Thank-you! You finished Tom's article for him by providing pictures of BOTH Michael "Shagg" Washington and CJ so we readers can judge for ourselves how close the two look. (Yeah, there's Google, but 1.A good article doesn't send its readers out to other sources for relevant info they'd likely want; 2.I searched images in Google for ["Michael Washington" "Cypress Hill"] and got a whole 16 results. Only 4 had pictures of people in them.)Scrythe said:
IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HIM
What is this guy getting in on the "Washed up nobody sues big-time game company" bandwagon?
They also mix it up by addin "C'mon!" here and there.Commander Breetai said:Anyway, he's just a back-up singer. For hip-hop doesn't that basically just equate to grunting and saying "Yeah!" randomly?
Note that I did not say it was a good negotiating tactic. Just that it sounded like a tactic.j0frenzy said:A better bargaining position would honestly be within the 100k range. Wow. Michael Washington is just flattering himself.AzrealMaximillion said:Search the voice acter for CJ( Christopher "Young Maylay" Bellard). Looks exactly like CJ. Rockstar could bring him into court as exhibit "A", put him beside a screenshot of CJ and the Judge would rule in favour of Rockstar.
Seriously.
For someone so quick to call other people negative things you yourself clearly don't put much brain power into what you type. I am neither of the things you claim that I am, I just go by what I see. So just do yourself a favor and stop embarrassing yourself.EllEzDee said:Yes, a lot of black people act gangster, eat chicken and watermelons and listen to rap music. That said, this guy making claims against Rockstar must have had quite a life, what with being the first man on earth to use a jetpack, especially one stolen from a high security military base. I imagine his bicycle gang had something to do with it.
