I left 3 days before the winner between Valve and Zynga ended and Valve was loseing by quite a bit. How did they end up winning it?

Largely thanks to a group called Anything But Zynga, created by Wordsmith. A number of us anti-Zyngites banded together and alerted every helpful forum we could access, greatly increasing the number of Valve votes. I won't say that we were the only reason Valve won, but we were a darn big one.

I honestly think that this is true, despite some threats of /b/ voting for Zynga "for the lulz", I think that some realized there is more lulz to be hand by trolling people on facebook when they cry that Zynga lost. That and the steam announcement helped a ton, I know that half my friends on steam who had never heard of the escapist before were like hey did you hear about this contest?
