I refer to the country as "The States". Sometimes I say "The U.S.", but not often.

America. Anything else feels too long-winded or out of place.

But then again, i say the UK when talking about my country, rather than England. Maybe Americans mainly say US or USA when referring to their country as well. Maybe it's a native thing.

I always say the U.S. I don't really know why.

My captcha was 'twitimp cruentata'... That sounds like a pseudo-latin name for a Pikmin enemy :)

I mostly say "U.S.", but it sometimes changes.

Or, if I'm pissed off, "those bloody Yanks".

I just say America. Everyone assumes your talking about the U.S. not Canada or anywhere in South America.

Usually, I say "America" unconsciously... in the context of comparison with any other part of "the Americas" (from northern Canada/Greenland to southern Chile/Argentina) I say "the US"

It depends entirely on the situation and whatever mood I'm in. I tend simply to say America or "the US", though.

The United States, the U.S or occasionally "those guys with guns who live down south.".
We're not all to the South of you! What about Alaska?
'Sides, "those guys down south" makes it sound like we're all cannibalistic inbred hillbillies who live in a swamp.

That's not us, that's just Mississippi and Kansas.
Not Kansas. Arkansas. Get it right.

OT: I say United States and type U.S.
