I recognize a lot of avatars and names, but I only have a slight negative preconceived biased against one...

I was still able to have a nice couple of posts with them a week ago, so it isn't really that bad.

EDIT: I usually imagine the avatar is talking while I read posts... that doesn't really help!

this guy is a guy i remember and that crazy enternalnothingness

You're alright, guy. You're getting a friend request.

Maybe I should try out those boilermakers. Last time I just did White Russians all night. Did not end well.
God, you poor bastard. I remember my first legal drinking party, I drank four vodka on the rocks and then punched a girl... It wasn't a good night.

I'd suggest taking it easy with boilermakers and not drinking them like a docker i.e. don't chug them down in one sitting - it gets you horrendously drunk, horrendously fast.

It's basically a shot of whiskey thrown into a pint of beer. You can probably imagine what happens when you chug them in quick succession.

By the way, didn't you use to have a HAL 3000 avatar or something, or am I confusing you with someone else?

And what are you doing drunk on a monday morning?
Nope, I've always proudly displayed my affiliation with 4chan in my avatar. It's pretty sad, I know, but I was of the 4chan generation, and I refuse to let my teens die.

Why am I so drunk on early Monday morning? Welcome to post-education unemployment.

Since I used to lurk on GameFAQ's before I came here (and to some extent still do), I view the Escapists as some kind of master race that is capable of talking about something without devolving into memes or other general thread-derailing fucktardery.

I recognise most of the people in this thread, because I lurk way, way more often than I post, and I post at least once a day.

I divide The Escapist population thusly:
- A very small handful of Escapists who I so strongly respect that I actually check their profile every few days and just read through their posts, enjoying the wisdom (not saying who though, because that's basically internet stalking, and I wouldn't last five minutes in jail);
- A small handful of Escapists that I don't like because they start too many threads, or post too much lightweight worthless stuff;
- A big handful of well known ones, most of which have posted in this thread themselves (like Root of all Evil or Daystar Clarion);
- Several handfuls of Escapists that I recognise, but not well enough to have formed a substantial opinion on;
- Everyone else.

I can pretty much guarantee that I know everyone better than they know me; partly because I look at profiles a lot, and partly because most of my posts, while correctly spelt, lack substance, and are thus not very memorable.

There are people I recognize, but I'm usually on here at work so I can't focus solely on The Escapist enough to start spotting trends in all their posting patterns and the personalities behind them.

Ouch.
I'm not that agressive when I get drunk.
More prone to frolicking on the floor and giggling to myself. Before throwing up and falling asleep, that is.
I suppose the legality of the party is disputed though. I'm not really allowed to drink vodka.

I can imagine.
I'm fine with horrendously drunk though, so long as it doesn't get me sick. (I'm in the last year of 'videregående', so the tradition of 'Russefeiring' dictates that I get some experience being absolutely pissed.)

I managed to find out that having a stomach full of cream and Kahlua doesn't go well with being wasted though, so go me I guess.
I don't know if you've tasted Kahlua, but it's seriously the most gruesome beverage I've ever had. I still have half a bottle that I have no idea what I should do with.
The shit cost me £20($30).
Guess there's nothing to do but looking up recipes which contain as small amounts of it as possible.

Curses. Here I thought I had a great trivia memory.
Must have been some other guy with a sort of acronymish name with a capital b.

Ah, that's right. I have no idea what to do after I finish school. That might pose a problem.

I feel a bit intimidated to reply, since I haven't been here for that long. I kinda felt like this topic is for those that have been here for awhile. But still...

I tend to try to figure out which gender of the poster and quite often check their profile. It really doesn't matter actually and it doesn't affect anyones post. But I find myself so curious... Sorry you all.

I recognize those that post often and out of those the ones that have a strong opinion and can support it. There are a lot of people here who have mind staggering post counts but have little to nothing to say in any topic, so for me the post count means nothing. I just seem to seek out longer and well written posts, often only skimming the shorter ones. I am really not the best person to "judge" anyone, on any post, but I find that I can't help myself...

There are some very interesting people here and it's fun to just read posts.

Oh god, that shit is ugly. Why did you buy that?! Don't you value your taste buds?! I guess you could do what I do with ugly tasting alcohol: save it for when you're so drunk already that you won't care about the taste.

...

I'm beginning to sound like an alcoholic.

You'll probably do what I'm doing: realise that the fact that you got the highest grades in your classes counts for shit with employers, and then sadly wander around various towns trying desperately to get the most menial jobs, only to be given the response "lol I don't care that you can explain how mRNA transcription occurs - you need two years minimum experience to be a waiter, jackass".

It's a depressing experience.

Before I joined, I thought most people had their own opinion. Now, and for a long time, I've realized that most people here are actually quite unintelligent (in the sense of original thought) and follow the first bandwagon they can hitch a ride on. Even if that bandwagon is absolutely ridiculous.

-No offence intended. Simply what I've observed. But I still like most people here, or else I wouldn't stick around.

On a side note, I originally thought this was an Australian site with mainly Australian users and some British. But I think it's actually US with mainly US users. Where did I get this from! >_>

I wanted to be stylish and drink White Russians...
"I like cream. I'm sure that means a White Russian will be the cocktail for me! What's that? I need Kahlua for the drink as well? Ok, sure."
Then: regret.

I don't want to save it 'till I'm drunk. I tried doing that on the night I mentioned, and I still couldn't handle it. Resorted to loading it off on an almost as drunk friend of mine. She couldn't get herself to drink it either.

And don't worry: Knowing how Kahlua tastes doesn't make you sound more like an alcoholic when you've already been talking about the monday morning boilermakers.

Yeah, doesn't sound fun.
I only really ever tried applying for one job. Some part time work on an electronics/gaming store.
Despite the fact that I was the only one (out of 100 applicants) to get a 100% score on the questionnaire on product knowledge and how to handle customers, I didn't even get called in to the second round of interviews.
It seems something about my personality is extrememly off-putting to employers.

Yeah, I've had that a lot in my searches too. It really sucks to get mysteriously ignored for callbacks with no explanation as to why. It sucks even worse to get callbacks, and then for them to say "that went great" and never contact you again.

Still, got another interview today, so maybe I'll get some work soon - it has taken six months...

They're all wankers. I hate them all with a passion. Why the hell am I still here? Fuck.

Honestly? I judge them by their words. Some are insightful, others funny and then there are the pricks. All walks of life.

Best of luck to you then.
Remember to stay off the drink before the interview now, harr harr.

I feel you man. The interviewers acted like (and said that) it went great when I was leaving, but I got the refusal only a couple of hours later.

I recall doing neither of those things therefore... *goes to corner* ;~;

OT: *ahem* The avatar always helps. Really. The avatars help set the tone to the sort of person you are. It can be confusing like, sporting a dark broody avatar but having a cheerful personality.

I don't trust my first impressions so I tend to stick around until I have enough evidence(posts) to proudly and smugly say that the said person is a complete twat or an all good guy/gal. :D

I wish there were fewer of them so I could get to know people here better, but on the whole, Escapist people are alright. They're willing to discuss things politely most of the time (or maybe they're compelled to from the rules, dunno), and I don't see too many stupid threads like "Was Hitler a good guy??!" or "What if we killed all the crippled people :O," which is a plus. Even the religion and politics section is reasonably goodnatured.

Cheers broham, I'll do all my drinking tonight so that I'll be fresh for tomorrow night.

Those interviewers really grind my gears - I know they don't want to be off-putting or negative, but why waste our damn time? If they're not gonna hire us then just say so.

Good times.

And I recognize like....half of the people on this thread cuz of their avatars and their names
