Freaky thing is, I don't even have the original file anymore. That image there is the only poison unagi in the world.

There's someone else with a very similar Mega Man sprite as their avatar here and it haunts me to this very day.

I just used a picture of myself.

Mine is just a picture of me, so that would be why noone else has it.

Long ago, when rock was young and these internets were growing in popularity amongst the kids, I used to be quite the troll (quel surprise). If people used avatars of themselves, I'd steal them.

Now? I just use whatever seems nifty. Thus, treasure chest from Dragon Quest. Which has the added bonus of being one of Escapist's native options, so I didn't have to hunt anything down.

I drew my own (Go MSPaint!), so unless someone else, who enjoyed sandbox games as much as I do, wanted to flatter the crap outta me, I think it'll stay pretty original.

As for why we rarely have dupes of av's? I dunno, probably because everyone here wants their own identity and don't want to copy anyone else?

Wow, you're pretty good at MS paint. I drew mine, but I drew it by hand.
I think people upload the pictures they like for their avatar or make something themselves. It's also really kinda weird when someone changes their established avatar because of this.

My avatar is my face, its the reason I never change it, or at least never change ir for longer than an hour. I'm scarce enough on the Escapist without removing that through which people identify my posts.

Well mine came from a forum I participated on oh... 8/9 years ago? A user created this image as part of our running joke. Whenever someone asked us to avoid spoilers we would always reference the "Pink Bunny Slipper wearing Aliens showed up". As a joke a guy made this image of Teal'c wearing Pink Bunny Slippers. I asked him if I could use it as my avatar, he said yes. The rest is history.

Im Just happy that most of us is too lazy to change it every few days. Some people in other Forums just change it every time they find a new "kewl" picture, but thats not what a Avatar should be about.

I hunted long time lurking from 4chan to random google sites.... but finally i found something that suited me...

I always play mage as first charat if possible... and one of my favorite type is FF black mage with blue robe, yellow pointy hat and dark face with glowing eyes...

so my picture suits my play style and when i played FFIX i loved vivis charat due wondring existance and reasons for it...

I generally don't wanna steal someone else's avatar, so if I see someone with a cool avatar I think "cool avatar! not "must have". And unlike a lot of other forums I think most users around here agree with me.

i think people want to have their own avatar cause they want to be unique in their own way,sometimes its something that symbolizes what they are/like in someway.many people have their reasons.i chose death from The Vultures Eye (nethack in 3D..ish) cause death its self can be unpredictable. when it comes to death sometimes its stealthy and just takes you without your notice,or you see it knowing these are your final moments and gives you those moments to (maybe) reflect over your entire life from start and finally to finish.then it can go about in merciful,clean,painful,messy,ect. youll just never know until it happens...
