How Long Would It Take You to Play Through Your Steam Games?

The pile of Steam games will just keep going on and on.

The curse of the Steam [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/steam] backlog is too many games and not enough time to play them all. Before you know it, your list of unfinished games just keeps growing with every Steam sale and Humble Bundle. If you ever wanted to know approximately how many hours it would take to complete the games in your Steam library, a site called SteamLeft is here to make you feel ashamed.

HowLongToBeat [http://steamleft.com/], which takes in the number of hours people say it took them to play the game as well as how they were playing (e.g. completing the main story, completing the main story and extra content, earning every achievement, etc.). HowLongToBeat then takes the averages of each to provide an estimate for the length of the game.

To get your estimate for your library, just enter your Steam ID; your profile must be publicly viewable.

The funniest part of it all is SteamLeft gives you suggestions on how you could spend that time instead. For example, you could listen to "Be A Man from Mulan over 7,000 times. You could watch the Star Wars [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/star%20wars] original trilogy 90 times. You could drive from coast-to-coast in the U.S. five times. Or maybe you'd rather watch the entire Hobbit trilogy 38 times, in my case. Maybe run a marathon 70 times?

Of course, the curse is that we'll all continue to get new games before we're finished with the older ones so will we ever complete them all? According to an 36% of games in all users' libraries have never been played [http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/04/introducing-steam-gauge-ars-reveals-steams-most-popular-games/], and only 17% are played for one hour.

How long would it take you to finish all of your Steam games?

I have almost 400 games I think it would take many years of non stop playing to get them all finished.

OT: I might look into this it seems fun.

Only 336 Hours, and most of that's from games I got for free from various offers.

2578 Hours. That's not as much as I expected honestly.

Or I could recite Martin Luther King's speech 9101 times. And probably make an overused joke afterwards.

1084 hours, and i have 185 games in my library.

But it would be impossible to truly finish it anyway, since last i checked it was impossible to play Dead Rising 2: Off the Record on PC since the GFWL shutdown.

There's also a simple Easter egg when you hover over the total hours, or at least there is for me.

"5086 continuous hours" "Watch the entirety of Star Trek (all TV shows and movies) 8 times"

Not all too surprising for me. Those humble bundles sales have added a ton of games to my library that I'll probably never play.

I found the SteamDB Calculator [https://steamdb.info/calculator/] equally interesting when I first saw it. It tells me, for example, that I've never played 400 out of 505 games that I own and that the total value of my library is 5482 Euros (Tier 1 = Western Europe). Interesting stuff as well!

It would take you...
3147 continuous hours
131 days, 3 hours, 46 minutes
of gameplay to complete your Steam library
Apparently I could watch the entire Star Trek TNG 24 times in that time, which is interesting, cause I've recently thought about watching it.

Over 4400 hours. Not bad. Still wonder how many of those hours would be better spent doing things on their list of "you could do this instead" things.

I have about 39 games on Steam. Most of them are Platformers and other things, so not that long. Well except for the Bethesda RPGs, those will take me a while to complete because of the quests...and the numerous times my game will crash to my desktop of course.

Judging by everyone else in this thread it should show I'm not really a person who buys anything in Steam Sales and doesn't really bother as much with PC gaming. XD

Yet I still buy more. Need to take a long hard look at my life.

See if you factored in games that you shouldn't play, like those crap indie games or early access or shit thrown in bundles you never wanted, I imagine you could cut your accumulated backlog time in half. I mean I have The Bard's Tale, Gone Home, Supreme Commander 1&2, Fallen Enchantress and probably a dozen other shit games I got in bundles that I bought for different games. I'll never install them, let alone play them. And I'm not going to feel a moment's guilt over that 'loss'.

Play the games you want to play, not the ones you feel obligated to. Nothing ruins a game faster than feeling like its work.

I'm not sure what concerns me more, that it would take me 60 continuous days to finish playing my games, or that there is a piece of music ridiculously long enough that I could only listen to it 11 times in that same span of time...

EDIT: whoa... meta...
