I guess people are lucky, because it's crashed about 10 times for me, mostly when entering new areas. Thankfully the autosave would put me right before where the game crashed.

It froze on me last night as I was approaching a building; presumably the "Spawn 50 raiders"-trigger messed it up, somehow. But beyond that, it's been very stable so far. Hopefully, it's not going to make a habit out of this, because there will be many, maaaany more suprise raider spawns...

Maybe I just got really lucky, but I only experienced crashing on the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas around 10 times in my 50 hours of playing it. On the PS3 version, probably once every hour or two.

I had it crash once. And that was entirely my fault. Like an idiot, I decided, 'hey, let's alt tab out of the game as soon as the loading screen started!' Yeah, I don't know why I did that either.

Never had it freeze (that was not caused by me), though. Not even on my PS3 edition which I got day 1.

On Xbox 360, I've had it since day of release and cannot for the life of me remember experiencing a single crash or even a bug, bar one hilarious man-launched-100ft-in-the-air event.

The only really annoying issue was that robot eyeball companion, that went crazy on me for some reason. Other than that, it was mostly overheating issues with my dodgy gfx card - I managed to play through without too many issues, nothing I'd complain about really.

Quite a bit for me, actually. And for the record I was running the game on my xbox 360 with all the patches and DLC present. A more recent incident was while shopping in the general store of Primm, during which my game would always crash after buying certain items, after concluding the conversation, or while leaving the store. After a while, I concluded it was because I was buying a duplicate copy of a playing card for Caravan, so I skipped the cards and bought everything else I needed. The game then crashed as I exited the store, so I reloaded an old save.

I don't think it was bad at first, sure it crashed after a couple hours of play but that's to be expected with Bethy's Havok engine games.
After I let my friend borrow the disc however and he fucked it up, it crashed every 15 minutes. I had to install it on my 360 to get it to work, after that it went back to not being bad.

The two main times you'll see crashing in Bethy's Havok games is after long continuous play, and after a large total play time--like you're save file going over 50 total hours.
I noticed Skyrim had a problem with the later one.

Oh let's see

Fallout 3 crashed because of a compatability issues with the 8800GTX and certain Nvidia panel forced IQ effects.

It also crashed is you tried to force EAX through the Asus Xonar sound card panel.

Once I got rid of the Xonar for a Xi-Fi Gamer and got a 260GTX to replace my 8800GTX, well never after that.

New Vegas crashed once and it was due to a duff mode, removal of the mode and a reload of an earlier save and the game was fine.
