How or why did your parents choose your name?

I was almost named Austin. My last name is Powers.

I think I just explained pretty well.

My parents decided Thomas.

They chose my middle name (Alan) first after my god father and then they named me Jeffrey because it sounds good when you say my full name.

First name William, is the americanized version of my great uncle's danish name Waldemar.

I was mighty confused when I first read the Dragonlance Chronicles.

I was named after Sean Connery. It amuses me because one of my best friends is named Conner.

My parents wanted to give me different names so they made a compromise and invented something new using both of these names, no-one ever gets my name right the first time, its a pain in the ass.

However... That I spell it Sarah, which is not so typical in Sweden, is entirely because of this fucking song:

My father wanted to name me Kimi but that was also the name of our neighbours' dog at the time. My mother suggested Joona but my father didn't want to give in to my mother's wish since she had turned his idea down. Thankfully one of my aunts came to help and suggested the name I currently use since she thought it sounded beautiful. Another reason was that it starts with a K, just like my father, mother and sister's names. They didn't want me to feel left out if my name started with a different letter.

I don't really like my name that much. It's very difficult to pronounce if you're not Finnish or accustomed to speaking Finnish which isn't very fun since I love to travel. I'm not going to change my first name though since it's part of who I am. It's still something I don't use online since I don't want to be known by that name in the magical world of Internet.
