You sure that's an ant hill...? It's in a line and 3 ft across? Or is it just a large line of mounds with ants over them?

I'm just saying... Moles and voles (as well as other burrowing mammals) will make very similar holes and mounds. They'll dig the fuck out of your yard. If you're using Raid and other products without success, you sure it's the ants and not some random mammal screwing your day?

There are also, depending on where you live, Cicada Killers - which are a monster-sized wasp that makes burrows. They leave during the day and by the time they come back the spray or whatever may have already sunken deep into the ground, or they could have found some alternative entrance.

Bucket of water and 3 cups of salt, repeat treatment once a day for a week till the product is completely soaked. Also if you can dig it up and find the queen and kill it, they will die or disappear soon (Unless they behave differently than my local ants)

Also, if you can burning it is nice and effective way...

Exterminatus.

Alternatively I've heard of pouring boiling water/ poison.
You're probably better off googling it.
What about boiling poison? That'll really fuck them over.

You need to smoke next to the ant hill for 12 years giving all the ants cancer from second hand smoke.

Well, you can kill them with poison foam. Dish soap + water + alkaline material (NaOH, found in drain cleaner) pour the foam into all the entrances and watch them dissolve.
I second this.

Though burning them with petroleum would also work. So many possibilities be creative.

Old school: Diazinon or another organophosphate insecticide.

New school: Pyrethrin or another pyrethroid insecticide with piperonyl butoxide synergist. Kills lots of things smaller than a human. So I hope you don't have plants in need of bees, or any cats, or small dogs. Especially cats.

Whatever insecticide you're looking for, check stores that specialize in gardens (your normal Walmart garden centre probably won't have stuff with that much kick). Failing that, find a place that specializes in horse care [http://www.farnamhorse.com/product.php?type=HORSE&mainkey=200005&pid=100016&key=300002] (tack shop or vet pharmacy) and check out their insecticides.

We use dirty oil from cars when we change our oil... We also use it on wooden posts to stop termites (White Ants) from eating them... Its quite effective

Shooting it works. I personally would go for no smaller than 9mm.

Also, setting it on fire is a nice option, as it suffocates AND fries the little buggers.

Pour liquid nitrogen down it.

Oh, I'm sorry, did you want a feasible solution? Yeah, I got nothing. Call some exterminators if it's really bad.
In point of fact, liquid nitrogen's cheaper than water. It's an incidental by-product of a ton of chemical manufacturing processes. They've got the shit literally on tap all around entire buildings in some laboratories.

OP: Raid isn't terribly effective pesticide. It kills what's on the surface, but it has no staying power or penetrating power. It exists as a chemical alternative to a fly swatter; a wiser and more effective means of eliminating cockroaches or than trying to stomp them. It's a handy product, but you shouldn't expect it to kill an entrenched colony of ants. If you want effective pesticide you're going to need to look harder than taking a trip to the hardware store. Do a little bit of research on industrial pesticides, or else do as others have said and call pest control.

As a tip, the kind of stuff that'll get the job done will tend to be highly poisonous to humans and other animals when freshly mixed (yes, you'll have to mix it) and will come with a ton of safety disclaimers, warnings, and instructions. I used to use some pesticide some years ago for this sort of thing, but damned if I can remember what it was called or if I could identify it by any moniker other than "deadly neurotoxin."

Have you tried convincing them to leave? All this violence gets nobody amywhere; open negotiations with the ants, and try to understand the issue from their point of view. Dressing up as an ant may help as well.
Awesome, just sheer awesome post

Put a large glass container over the hill.

Watch them suffer. As much as an insect can... >>'

Or keep it?

Ants are pretty awesome.

Flashbang, through the door! I mean, try firecrackers. It'll fuck them up badly I'll bet. Hey, maybe save it for new years and stuff the anthill full of fire crackers, and watch the show.
