Hurricanes come and go and are always "apocalyptic" in people's mind but it's never as bad as everyone makes it to be.
Yah, like Katrina. You must have been advising Bush.
Damn it... you beat me to it. :[

Every time I hear about this, I can't help but thinking along these lines:

"You know the kind of hurricanes that promise to do lots of damage and then wonder why everybody hates them? Well, that hurricane is me. So I made a list of all the bad things hurricanes do, and one by one, I'm gonna try to avoid them. I'm just trying to be a better weather phenomenon. My name is Earl."

Please tell me someone gets what I am referring to here.

Extremely obvious reference is extremely obvious.

So, if you live on the East Coast of the United States, I'm sure you've heard all about Scrambles the Death Dealer Hurricane Earl. If not, it's a huge, apocalyptic hurricane that will destroy the whole East Coast (just like every other one before it was undoubtedly supposed to).

So, is anybody else worried about it? Making any preparations? I live in Maine (pretty far inland, too), and they're saying it's going to come through here. I'm not too worried, though - this far north, hurricanes are way less potent. We'll probably just get some wind and rain, nothing big.
love the death clock qoute

First, I'd like to apologize to the Canadian folks here - didn't mean to leave you out!

And secondly, maybe I shouldn't try to trivialize the hurricane - it may be bad for people in some locations. And some of you made some good points about Hurricane Katrina. So, sorry if I came off like a jerk at all. I just have a feeling that there's been a lot of hype and fearmongering in the news about Earl lately.

I'm in North Carolina, and nah, not really worried, 'cause I'm in Raleigh, pretty far inland. Coast will maybe get a bit roughed up though. I could use a hurricane to obliterate a few... unwanted... buildings though.

I live inland in New Jersey, and we're supposed to get next to nothing as far as a storm goes. I think the hurricane is going further out to sea than expected.
SO DO I!!!
I guess it's up to me to rep the "jerzzey shore" then, I'm not guido though >.<. lol.
OT: My beach house already has necessary precautions to keep it safe, However in the off chance a tree falls over on it or it floods I will be spending the night at a friends house for unrelated reasons.

Shit...well the threat level for Boston doesn't seem too high, and as a suburb of Boston, I'm only expecting ridiculous rain.
[sub]But my friends and I are prepared to go looting...I kid, I kid.[/sub]

I plan on throwing a Hurricane party, with back-up flashlights and candles just in case, and of course Risk and Dominion.
Shit yeah, Dominion. Can't wait for Prosperity. It got delayed, though...

A major tropical storm - strong winds and heavy rains.
I'm hoping he was joking. Hoping very hard.

That's what Obama wants you to think maaaaaan. He's got a Storm Generating Machine, and when the peoples of Europe are being all complacent and relaxed - bam! Rotterdam is in ruins. Then Aberystwyth. Then Forli (I had fun using non-capital cities there).
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! (he screamed in overly dramatic tone)
actually i don't really like rotterdam (except for the fact that it keeps our economy standing)

I live in CT, so it will hit me this afternoon or evening, as far as I know it's only Cat 2 when it hits so I'm not too worried.

I was just in the outer banks last week, so I guess I was kind of lucky.

And upstate New York (where I live) doesn't seem to be much affected.
