Yeah I like it too. I like all of them actually. I have no idea why people hate on it so hard. I guess some people just like to hate stuff, but really it seems like a lot of pointless effort to keep watching and hating something you obviously don't like.

Outside of Sasha, you don't see folks asking what to do with the dice. The girls seem to know their way around a d20 better than your average Robot Chicken staffer. Seems like this is a totally normal afternoon for them. Which may be part of the idea.

Meanwhile, this forum fills up with folks who can't let go of their Geek Shame long enough to think that the whole thing might not be staged after all. That the girls are just having a fun afternoon and trying to beat the dungeon. That's the mindset I'm watching it in and I'm laughing my fool head off at the back and forth between the players and DM. At my game table, player/DM arguments are a drag, but here they're edited down to show how ludicrous they are. I can't say how many times I got a chuckle out of the metagame of arguing with the DM in this episode.

If you watch carefully, you'll see the real reason the blanket thing didn't work was because Kimberly rolled a one to hit.

This show seems to be more trying to take advantage of the average "nerd" stereotype.

"They like D&D, watching porn stars play D&D is probably more action than they've ever gotten! They'll love it!"

This sort of thing offends me somewhat because of that. Just saying "look, porn stars, watch them do something you like doing" is -not- an adequate premise for episodic content. Perhaps one episode, just as a joke, but making it a whole series is pretty sad.

I expect more understanding of their usual audience from the Escapist.
you could not be more right.

Fair point. I agree 100%. I was just trying to say that it wasn't saying "HA! NERDS ARE STERIOTYPICAL!" is all.

I think this is a pretty bad series. Maybe you have to play D&D to get it, I dunno.

What are you talking about? Why can't we play D&D? You do realize that the show was based on a game we were already playing. This isn't something the Escapist guys created. We've been doing this for a while. So saying that we're taking advantage of the "Nerd" stereotype is OFFENSIVE. So Porn girls can't be nerds? That is a stupid statement. You must live in a hole to think that If group A does job A then they can't like what Group X likes. We were asked to film the show because of our actual interest and gaming experience not because it was a NOVEL idea.

Way to be Prejudice. Good for you.

As I stated in the very first episode I actually like the show a lot. It's basically a documentary about people having fun and being normal IN SPITE of what everyone else might think when reading "porn stars and strippers" or even taking a quick glance at them.
To me the message comes over as very positive - kinda like, "in the end we're all just people". ^^
And the situations they're getting themselves into and how they solve them are quite hilarious at times as well if you treat it on a pure role-playing level. All of the girls display some RPG-archetypes too whether they know that or not and most of them are acting in-character well.

Keep it up, I say and don't mind the nay-sayers. There's a place for all kinds of stuff on The Escapist and I'm sure I Hit it with my Axe will develop a small but faithful following. =)

P.S. Kimberly is pretty. :-D

Yeah I totally agree. I mean they're pornstars, it's not like they're actual people or anything or could otherwise be interesting when they aren't naked...

Wow.. You're a real Gem.
We ARE actual real people. And we read these posts. And when you say things like that, they actually do hurt. We're just having fun playing D&D. Why are you guys being such Jerks about it. It's not like its YOUR game. AND most of you who are commenting don't even like playing D&D, so why would you want to watch people play D&D?

I think as far as freedom of "shutting your eyes" goes, i think just plainly taking this show apart instead of at least going for constructive criticism isn't really worth anything. if you don't like it then so be it, but quit japping about it. Either contribute to a healthy dialogue or close your browser.
I don't think the show is awesome, neither do i think "it sucks so bad i can't believe the escapist hosts this". For what it's worth, people playing D&D and having a good time, i think it's good. and i won't mind them continuing.
Nobody's forcing you to like it, but i, nay, we all would appreciate if the flamers would just keep it to themselves.
If you have anything constructive to say, please do ;)

Haters gonna hate, Satine - it's easy on the Internet, so take it lightly. :p

Personally I'm looking forward to more episodes and watching you and your friends setting things on fire with oil because that seems to be a recurring theme here. :-D

I wonder if I'm into the show because I used to play pen & paper RPGs - mainly Warhammer and various World of Darkness settings with the occasional Deadlands and Legend of the Five Rings mixed in - though I also have all the books for D&D 3rd edition as well. ^^

I didn't know any of the people appearing in the show from their "professional" work except Sasha Grey - I'm watching porn as much as the next guy but in this case I'm really more interested in this video series than the girls' jobs. Am I weird? :p

To be honest, its pornstars and strippers and a hairdresser playing D&D, which is highly unconventional. That's really the appeal of this series. People who first see the words "Dungeons and Dragons" will instantly think of some nerdish cosplay club at College. Having people of this fraternity playing it, understanding it and (sort of) finding it interesting should be enough to draw people in.

Constructive enough for you?

I think he was speaking more along the lines of how it's being presented. The main catch of the show is "Porn stars." It's in subtexts and links everywhere. There's no problem with there being a show about women in the porn industry doing nerdy things, it's the fact that it's being played off as the main focal point to grab the viewers attention that he may be finding offensive.

Hopefully you don't find this offensive, I'm just attempting to reiterate some of the common complaints I've seen on these threads.

I'm sure it's just an experimental approach when it comes to the work done behind the camera and in the editing room, but I'll just go ahead and ask anyway. Have you talked to anyone about the editing and camera work of the show? There still seems to be a lot of complaints about that and I'm curious as to if anyone took them into consideration?

I think this series is a GREAT way to expose two things.

First, D&D is FUN. Whoever has played this game knows that having a group of awesome players and a fun / open / imaginative dungeon master is a well spent afternoon. I personally haven't played for several years and am SO jealous of my buddies who have the time to.

Second, and unfortunately, the series shows that porn stars are people too. I say "unfortunately," because what the nature of the porn industry does is dehumanize its stars. The medium takes stars and puts them into ridiculous acts of submission (specifically, man dominating woman). I can't talk about specifics because this is a clean site but what I'll say is this. Personally, what turns me on most is when two stars really get intimate (like in a real-life bedroom situation). This is coming from the guy who wants to have a normal / stable relationship with his wife (who normally wouldn't like gagging, um, and the other rough stuff I can't talk about here). If you're reading this, stars, I hope you take my perspective. Deep down past our insecurities and macho-man-pride, most guys want to treat their women right because as men, they want to be treated right, too.

On a side topic, I'd like to address the fact that only "nerds" like porno. It's a human DESIRE to procreate (especially man's desire to) so it's a no brainer than ANYBODY would like watching two beautiful people get it on.

For me, watching this show makes me want to PLAY D&D. I really respect the editor for making this show because not only does it expose that porn stars are people too by giving them their own segment, but also because it's an AWESOME marketing stunt. Just look at yourself, who is watching this show, now. Do you do so because of your love for D&D or because you were interested in watching what porn stars do in a game of D&D? For me, it was a bit of both.

In closing, kudos to all the stars who had the balls to do this show and subject themselves to its humiliating commentary. Lastly, HAPPY GAMING! If you haven't played D&D before, find a fun, open group of people, a Dungeon Master, and try it out for yourself. You may be surprised at how much fun it really is.

The lighting is better in the Sessions with Justine. A lot of the people commented that they like the robot chicken guys' D&D game better. Well, Its shot differently. AND Its a different group of people playing it in a different style.

This must be the second time I have watched this show. I didn't see the purpose the first time. This time I like it more, perhaps because I can identify with those girls - they know as little as I do about Dungeons and Dragons, and are equally uninterested. I have never played a game of it in my life and I'm not entirely sure what it is in the first place.

Somehow, even though this is totally unscripted and largely without purpose, it is still better than Game Dogs. By a long shot. I think I can watch more of this.

I really really enjoy this series, it's always fun to see how other groups run their games. All of the girls are entertaining to watch, and Kimberly Kane is fucking metal! All that talk about axes in faces, hell yeah!

EDIT: Someone should really make it clear in the description of this series that all of these people regularly play D&D, this isn't a "playing for the first time shenanigans!" type of series.

I think it's strange that anyone would be offended by the description of the show, seeing as how it is adequately describing what is actually happening in it. Which is, porn stars playing D&D.
If it were described "girls playing D&D", I think people would still be offended, because in certain perspectives, it is still a perpetuance of the nerd stereotype.

On to more important things, THANK YOU for all your positive comments.

I found this rather amusing from the get go, as I am one of the people who enjoy seeing how other groups play.
As Zach mentioned on his blog this really has improved from episode 5 and forth as the disjointed scene switching has come to an end and you get a better feeling of the game and participants.
Basically I'm looking forward to the next ones and I urge you to ignore the people who without watching decides that :
