I am glad that Rockstar is making story their main emphasis for L.A Noire. I am glad that they will put the time and effort into making a good, quality detailed story for L.A Noire. As people mentioned before if you just want to mindlessly kill people then play GTA 4 however if you want to submerge yourself in what looks to be a great story with innovative facial graphics that will give us a better sense for the emotion that each character is experiencing. Then look no further then Rockstar's L.A Noire.

That is why I pre-ordered this game the moment I was able to.

Anybody who expects this game to turn out exactly like GTA is simply an idiot.
With that said, I am looking forward to LA Noire as well!

The plot is probably going to be shit and you'll be able to figure out the criminal in the first few seconds. Just sayin'

Also, if you're gonna pull the old "I'm a mature and intelligent gamer" then fuck off. I remember when games were about fun, not awful writing and pretty graphics. When you've played LA Noire once, then there's no reason to replay it due to it being the exact fucking same.

This is how too many gamers look at it. Everyone has been raised with the idea that video games are wastes of time and have no value, so now they don't look for value and only play it for stupid, shallow reasons. That's how it goes.

So you're making a ridiculous premature judgement followed by a criticizing it because it's a single experience rather than being different every time? For one, since when is a good, single experience a bad thing? Secondly, why will it have a bad plot, and since when have all games had terrible writing? You're either applying your personal preference as though it was the word of God or... actually not sure what else you could be doing.

You seem to know LA Noire so well already, and it's over a week before release even.

In any case, it's the first game to ever be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival, and it has over 2,500 pages of dialog, so I doubt the writing is that awful. As for it having no replay value...each (Or at least most) of the cases have up to nine different conclusions. Basically, if you've ever watched a movie more than once, then this game has replay value. If you never watch any movie more than once, then this game might still hold some replay value for you.

Or not. But we'll see when the game comes out.

LA Noire looks awesome and I can't wait for it. I love the setting and that it should have a great interactive story. I have high hopes for the game and hope it's good.

That said, I also love RDR. Western, free roam, fun. Yeah, I like that it has a story and I follow the storyline, but every once in a while I'll go wander around and do what I want simply because I don't feel like pursuing the story right now.

Both styles have their merits, but people shouldn't expect the games to be anything alike. Just because they're by the same developer doesn't mean they have to be similar.

Also, anyone who didn't know from the beginning that this would be completely different from GTA and RDR is an idiot. Maybe if the only research they did was watch trailers of it and not read up on it at all. Even then I still get a different vibe and you can tell it has a very focused story.

All in all, anyone deciding to buy this game based solely on the pretty graphics and just expecting it to be a new GTA/RDR deserves all the disappointment they get. I understand it might not be your type of game, but if that's the case just don't buy it. I don't like sports games or GTA, so do I go online and ***** someone made a game that I don't enjoy? No, I just don't buy it and I'm glad that the company makes money and stays in business and others enjoy the game.

My interest in this game has just increased tenfold.

I think the reason these people are complaining is that they were led to believe that L.A. Noire was going to be another GTA, and now they are legitimately annoyed that it isn't. I too, just assumed this was another GTA and wasn't even considering buying it until I went through this thread, and now it seems it is something completely different. The problem lies in how the game is advertised, and a lot of people are likely to be disappointed when they get the game and realise it isn't what they wanted.

Holy crap, you're hateful for no reason.

Stop assuming things. It makes an ass out of you. Not me, though. Just you. Though, based off your attitude, you don't really need help for that.

As someone already said, the game is the first to be featured at an official film festival, and as no one has pointed out to you, it has professional actors playing the roles.

what do you expect people who didn't research the game were going to think.

Crime + Detectives + a fat rock-star games logo on the commercial = (Thoughts) probably another free roam game like GTA. Do not need any more of those. Strike it from the list! If you didn't do the research like myself then their is a great possibility that you can miss something that could turn out to be great.

Regardless of whether it is good or not in the end I will continue to not get my hopes up for any video games coming soon and only rent them just to safe guard my hard earned dollars. Then at the end of my 7 day rental I will ask myself if I could keep playing this. Then and only then will I purchase!!

I'm so glad companies like to make more than one kind of game. Otherwise all we'd ever be playing is Modern Warfare X.

I wouldn't worry that these people are in the majority. Likely as not, they are just hankering for another GTA and incorrectly assume that if LA Noire is being made, GTA5 is on hold. At least, I'm going to give them that benefit of the doubt. I'm feeling giving today.

I've pre-ordered this game and am really looking forward to it. Personally, I think it's going to be a huge success.

It could use some form of replayability, not sure murdering is the right way, but OP and some others come off a bit too irritated. Of course, people complaining always come off that way to me.

Anyways, I wish Mafia 2 had multiplayer much more than L.A. Noire.

Pretty sure it has branching paths depending on how well you do in cases, although to what extent that works I don't know. Probably only in the short term, but even without any influence on anything, if the writing/story/whatever is enjoyable enough, then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to replay it. I can't imagine you only ever watch films once.

Anyway, just because a game tries doing something that requires at least a little bit of non-reflex brain power and has slower pacing doesn't mean people can't find it fun (or rather, entertaining - I honestly can't remember the last game where the only thing it got out of me was "fun").

Also: I find it helpful if I don't present myself as a bit of a dick in absolutely all my posts (just some). Could be a handy tip.

Looking through the videos is actually what I started doing as soon as I finished writing that comment, thanks for revealing that this game isn't what I expected. Now that I've seen the videos, this is definitely something I will be buying as soon as possible.

It's a shame the general opinion is that this is just the newest GTA to come out. Lots of GTA fans are going to be disappointed, and lots of people like me could pass over what looks like a really great game.
