I met Des Lynam at a book signing, Alan Titchmarsh... Oh, and I met Turisas after a gig of theirs. They were very quiet, meek people.

Met Dan Inosanto a few times... He's really nice. Also saw Steve Punt on the Greenwich ferry and saw Vic Reeves in Canterbury. My folks have repeatedly seen Bob Geldof in the junk/antique shops of Faversham...

I met two somewhat famous people

a few years ago I've met Steve Garvey at the mall. I shook his hand and my dad had a conversation with him that I forgot.

back in may me and my mom were at the airport and we saw Heidi klum although me nor my mom talked to her because my mom was afraid that Heidi would get attacked by a mob of people asking for her autograph.

I'm a sound engineer, I worked at one of the larger music domes in my country and met quite some famous people in that. Want a list?

Metallica - Lars does not pay attention to anything at all, James is a cool guy a bit 'punkish' for his age but alright, Robert is very laid back and doesn't enjoy the attention as much, Kirk is bitching non stop about how he doesn't sound right.

Justin Bieber - When the kid doesn't have to worry about the regulations to what he says, looks like, how he smiles and where he looks at. He's actually a cool guy.

Jeff Dunham - Yes, he's funny especially when he does the voices when he doesn't have his dolls. He's a cool guy and is rather dicking around than preparing his show.

AC/DC
The coolest guys to have ever lived, very down to earth and had a great time with 'em. Got to meet Angus really well because he wanted to go to his house in Holland and I live close by so I brought him home, so to speak. Had a drink with him and his happy family, cool guy especially since I could speak dutch and he'd understand it. Which was very cool.

Jerry Lee Lewis - He arrived a day too early so I had a lot of time with the man. Let me tell you that man lived the live and knows how to live it.

John Legend - Nice guy a little too idealistic, but then again every damn guy with a vision and money is.

Avril (the rock chick)
Nice girl a lot more serious and professional then you'd expect. Fucking hot too, had to go there yes I did.

Queen
Atleast Brian I really got to know him with his musical 'We will rock you' the guy is really about as regular as they get, only this one is a rock legend

Marillyn Mason
Creepy guy, though when he's not putting up a show... You know the guy from jackass steve-0 that's him right there.

Mika - A total hyperactive nutjob if I ever met one.

Nine Inch Nails - Reznor has always been my idol and it was just sick to be able to hang out with him all weeked while he was staying in Amsterdam. Though as for their live music that's a ***** and a half to get to sound even half decent.

I could go on, with guys I worked with. But these are the most famous that I really got to know. What can I say, it's just my job And I fucking love it

And before that I met Sean Bean on the set of Game Of Thrones.
I take it you were an extra in Kings Landing? You lucky bastard.

I've never met any famous, but one time I did almost get run over by Mel Gibson. He had a house in the town I live in and I was walking through a crosswalk and he decided it was a good time to turn (I don't know if its the same in all states but the walker has to be a lane and a half past the lane you're turning into if you're turning right at a stop sign or red light.) He missed me by about a foot and a half, and drove a way, with me yelling curse words and making rude gestures.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were in Venice when I was 12. They came wandering down a street we were in. Tom said our ice creams looked nice and asked my dad where they bought it. It was a bit surreal. He was very small compared to Ms Kidman. They both seemed quite normal and nice.

Ant and Dec used to hang around in the metro centre in Newcastle when we were younger. My sister used to stalk them while I played the arcades.

My auntie knows Stephen Hawking, they have been friends since they were little. It makes me fangirl every time she mentions him.

I met Bill Goldberg the once. I was four, so I don't remember it very well, but my father assures me I flipped the fuck out.

I've met the girl who played Blaire on The Facts of Life, she's sweet. I've met Ivan Moody from Five Finger Death Punch, he's a cool guy. I've met Attack Attack! They're like the nicest guys ever, I even met Caleb (The singer) again at Warped Tour this year, he's super cool and didn't seem annoyed that people kept stopping him and asking for pictures.

Not me, but my mum met Al Pacino earlier this year while in New York and got his autograph. Amazing.

Talked to all the guys from bands I like (A Wilhelm Scream, Propagandhi, Polar Bear Club...), not exactly celebrities.

Met a presenter from MTV before, there's a picture of her giving me kiss somewhere. I was a stud when I was 10.

Stephen Spielberg asked me specifically to use my cat for Munich. Being the child that I was I gladly accepted.

I met the original yellow power ranger. She spoke to me in Vietnamese and she was really sweet.
Trini Kwan! I had such a big crush on her as a little kid. I even named one of my guinea pigs after her (the other one was Kimberly). Come to think of it, Yellow Ranger was Asian and Black Ranger was black... that's actually pretty racist.

Anyway. My mom worked in US emigration and has literally met just about everybody worth meeting. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever met anyone famous...

I met (and got triangle choked by) Claude Patrick at a seminar that he held at my dojo. Coincidentally enough, it was my 19th birthday.

Gosh, I haven't really met anyone too famous. I've been to some great concerts where I could have probably met the band if I had been more forward, but I hate to get in people's faces when I don't know how busy they are. I've corresponded with the music critic/madman Mark Prindle, but I don't think he's considered 'famous'.

On the other hand, my grandfather opened the door for Robert Mitchum once, and my father danced with Natasha Kinski before. That's the best I've got.

I met Dan Green at an anime convention down here in Australia.
He was cool. And he also said "Card games on motorcycles!" for me.

Met a few more famous people, working in a record store, but didn't really care as I didn't have any interest in them.

However, my greatest 'celeb' meet, would be Charlie Brooker, pre-Screenwipe, maybe even pre-Guardian columns.

I think I kinda spooked him, as I didn't recognise him, until he handed over his loyalty card application form, and I saw the email address ... '@tvgohome.com' ???

'tvgohome? are you..do you write that site?'

'umm..yeah'

'Oh wow, I really love that stuff, I think you're brilliant ...' etc etc

I'm sure I thoroughly embarrassed him, acting like a prepubescent girl meeting a whole boy band at once.

I say that because even now he seems embarrassed by any level of praise.

Was so nice to meet someone mildly famous that I actually had some respect for tho, as opposed to 'you're famous for doing a bit of singing/acting'.

Oh I got to meet a bunch of the NWA wrestlers when they visited England too, and they were all really friendly and not rushed at all. Was kinda funny to see the really camp guy, when we got his autograph after, talking in a really gruff voice and being totally normal, while still wearing the pink boa and glam makeup.

Doing 'added security' detail for the small town near my very large town. Where she is filming her next music video. The small town in which she is filming was afraid they wouldn't have enough people to keep the swarms away. Turns out most country folk don't give a shit about Lady GaGa.
I had a brief conversation with her about how I am tall and that she wants to buy a ranch or something out in this area 'some day'. Also, that I don't own any of her albums, she seemed okay with this got an autograph for my big gay brother.
Damn I didn't have a camera.

In case you're on the edge of your seat. Her next video will very likely feature corn fields.

That's easily the most famous person I've ever met.

How about you were they as normal as you thought they be?

I've met a number of famous people when I worked as Casino Security down here in Connecticut (10 years between Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods). Being famous doesn't mean much, celebs vary in personality as much as anyone else. In general when your working as security back of the house, standing behind one of their gaming tables, providing an escort, or whatever else your viewed as a pseudo-insider, and to be honest you become somewhat jaded to it after a while.

Contrary to a lot of rumors, most celebrities and their entourages tend to be on their best behavior, because as much as they bring people in, they also want to be welcome to come back to the venue. People expecting the arrogant super-star, or out of control rock star schtick aren't typically going to find it.

To be honest the only real celebrity "incident" that I considered anything like that was one I missed the brunt of. It involved a show where 'Lil Wayne was doing an opening act for Ginuwine at Foxwoods. 'Lil Wayne was too cheap to want to pay to eat at any of the Casino resteraunts, and got permission to use the employee cafeteria (free for employees, and for him while he was there). He pretty much came in with all his people and wanted to have the red carpet rolled out for him, have people on their breaks cleared, cut through the line (which would cost employees their lunch time, and it pretty much started a fight which got pretty loud and nasty. This incident wound up changing policy about allowing celebrity/guest access to employee facilities, where basically in similar situations we started using runners to bring them food from the cafeteria in similar situations. It leads into a number of other stories and incidents, but it's probably the biggest incident I'm aware of given the repercussions it wound up having. Lukily nobody I had the pleasure of escorting or whatever got into anything even close to that.

The bottom line is celebrities are people too, and vary greatly. Most seem to be very polite and professional (of course where I worked might have had something to do with that), and maybe even a bit surprised at their own success to an extent.
