Stephen Spielberg asked me specifically to use my cat for Munich. Being the child that I was I gladly accepted.

I met the original yellow power ranger. She spoke to me in Vietnamese and she was really sweet.
Trini Kwan! I had such a big crush on her as a little kid. I even named one of my guinea pigs after her (the other one was Kimberly). Come to think of it, Yellow Ranger was Asian and Black Ranger was black... that's actually pretty racist.

Anyway. My mom worked in US emigration and has literally met just about everybody worth meeting. On the other hand, I don't think I've ever met anyone famous...

I met (and got triangle choked by) Claude Patrick at a seminar that he held at my dojo. Coincidentally enough, it was my 19th birthday.

Gosh, I haven't really met anyone too famous. I've been to some great concerts where I could have probably met the band if I had been more forward, but I hate to get in people's faces when I don't know how busy they are. I've corresponded with the music critic/madman Mark Prindle, but I don't think he's considered 'famous'.

On the other hand, my grandfather opened the door for Robert Mitchum once, and my father danced with Natasha Kinski before. That's the best I've got.

I met Dan Green at an anime convention down here in Australia.
He was cool. And he also said "Card games on motorcycles!" for me.

Met a few more famous people, working in a record store, but didn't really care as I didn't have any interest in them.

However, my greatest 'celeb' meet, would be Charlie Brooker, pre-Screenwipe, maybe even pre-Guardian columns.

I think I kinda spooked him, as I didn't recognise him, until he handed over his loyalty card application form, and I saw the email address ... '@tvgohome.com' ???

'tvgohome? are you..do you write that site?'

'umm..yeah'

'Oh wow, I really love that stuff, I think you're brilliant ...' etc etc

I'm sure I thoroughly embarrassed him, acting like a prepubescent girl meeting a whole boy band at once.

I say that because even now he seems embarrassed by any level of praise.

Was so nice to meet someone mildly famous that I actually had some respect for tho, as opposed to 'you're famous for doing a bit of singing/acting'.

Oh I got to meet a bunch of the NWA wrestlers when they visited England too, and they were all really friendly and not rushed at all. Was kinda funny to see the really camp guy, when we got his autograph after, talking in a really gruff voice and being totally normal, while still wearing the pink boa and glam makeup.

Doing 'added security' detail for the small town near my very large town. Where she is filming her next music video. The small town in which she is filming was afraid they wouldn't have enough people to keep the swarms away. Turns out most country folk don't give a shit about Lady GaGa.
I had a brief conversation with her about how I am tall and that she wants to buy a ranch or something out in this area 'some day'. Also, that I don't own any of her albums, she seemed okay with this got an autograph for my big gay brother.
Damn I didn't have a camera.

In case you're on the edge of your seat. Her next video will very likely feature corn fields.

That's easily the most famous person I've ever met.

How about you were they as normal as you thought they be?

I've met a number of famous people when I worked as Casino Security down here in Connecticut (10 years between Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods). Being famous doesn't mean much, celebs vary in personality as much as anyone else. In general when your working as security back of the house, standing behind one of their gaming tables, providing an escort, or whatever else your viewed as a pseudo-insider, and to be honest you become somewhat jaded to it after a while.

Contrary to a lot of rumors, most celebrities and their entourages tend to be on their best behavior, because as much as they bring people in, they also want to be welcome to come back to the venue. People expecting the arrogant super-star, or out of control rock star schtick aren't typically going to find it.

To be honest the only real celebrity "incident" that I considered anything like that was one I missed the brunt of. It involved a show where 'Lil Wayne was doing an opening act for Ginuwine at Foxwoods. 'Lil Wayne was too cheap to want to pay to eat at any of the Casino resteraunts, and got permission to use the employee cafeteria (free for employees, and for him while he was there). He pretty much came in with all his people and wanted to have the red carpet rolled out for him, have people on their breaks cleared, cut through the line (which would cost employees their lunch time, and it pretty much started a fight which got pretty loud and nasty. This incident wound up changing policy about allowing celebrity/guest access to employee facilities, where basically in similar situations we started using runners to bring them food from the cafeteria in similar situations. It leads into a number of other stories and incidents, but it's probably the biggest incident I'm aware of given the repercussions it wound up having. Lukily nobody I had the pleasure of escorting or whatever got into anything even close to that.

The bottom line is celebrities are people too, and vary greatly. Most seem to be very polite and professional (of course where I worked might have had something to do with that), and maybe even a bit surprised at their own success to an extent.

I've met Mike Portnoy a few times. Cool dude. Sometimes he was on sometimes he was off. The most recent time he sat me down and told me a little story, but the times before that it was kinda just a quick hello (as during those times he was still with Dream Theater and thus extremely busy.) He seems a lot happier now, which is why I'm not all butthurt about him leaving the band. So... ya. Pretty normal guy with normal human emotions... just a real workaholic XD

I'll have to call façade on that. Lady Gaga is not a very cool woman.

More on-topic, I haven't met any properly famous people, but a few internationally-known people. Well, one. Jeremy King from Spunge is my friend's uncle. That's about it. Does that count?

Which you know from extended personal experience, I'm sure.

I've never actually met any famous people. I've seen some, but I've never actually talked to a celebrity. Not even a Z-list celebrity. Or the housewives.

Colin Meloy of the Decemberists. I wouldn't say he was more normal than I thought he'd be, but I figured he'd be pretty normal.

Okay... cool story brah...

To keep with the topic, the most famous person I've ever met is Matt Damon when I was visiting New York. But then again seeing him is no big deal as he apparently visits the same starbucks everyday, so yeah, I just did the usual "hii'mabigfanwouldyousign-" "sure there you go buddy kthxbai"

I've heard similar things about how Gaga is actually a normal, down to earth person off-camera.

As for my experiences, I've only met Ric Flair (bit of a dick) and an Aussie stand-up comedian Heath Franklin (very funny guy all-round).

Met Hillary Clinton a couple of years back at a conference in my university. Asked her a question about the economic crisis and if it could be averted.
Kind of a big deal, I guess. Although the answer was nothing special at all.
