I doubt most people would hire a 14 year old even if it is legal but good luck,right now jobs are a bit hard to come by, probably your best bet is fastfood since even in a tough job market no one wants to work there
Since most of the bigger employers will have policies against allowing in younger employees (I'm pretty sure it's more of an issue of work quality than child slavery,) your best bet is to try to find a smaller/independently owned store of some sort to find work at. Little local convenience stores/grocers/flower shops/music stores/get the picture kind of places might have some job opportunities if you can prove yourself dedicated.
Or volunteering for neighborhoodly tasks (i.e. mowing lawn, shovelling snow, raking leaves, etc,) are good options, though I never really got into those at all.

I'm 19 and can't even find a job to apply for around here, am trying to move out of home, have a girlfriend and am an independent film maker.
It's tough on all of us kid, if your Uncles restaurant is available then do it, it's right there in front of you and you said you're desperate for cash, stop being picky...
You're going to eventually have to do things you don't really want to do, that's life, so you should get used to it. I regret not trying to get a crappy fast food job when I was your age, school and adults would always say "it's first priority to study blahblah" and that got me nowhere in the end, personally. I should've just snapped up work I could get while I had more time to do it.

Again, The Job won't be avalible for another 3 months, You work long hours in a shack with no cooling during the blazing hot summer of my area, and most people who go there are pricks. I'm better off taking 15 bucks a week for chores than working there.
