How about something that you can never see, but you can always hear it. Late at night, you can hear it's low moans far off in the distance. While your all alone, you can hear something scampering around you. All throughout your story, it always has a constant unnerving presence, but it's never revealed what it is or what it looks like, and it never attacks you directly.
Nothing is scarier than the unknown. *nods*

*looks at Shycte's avatar* ... actually scratch that, just use his avatar. Freaky clowns are overdone, but dam it, they're overdone for a reason. *shudders*

I'm not that great at thinking of things like this, but use this to help with designing at least one of them: things that seem innocent are really creepy when they are corrupt. Bastardized innocence makes for great terror.
Hmm....Evil Puppy *types into monster Machine* *sees result* You have a nice idea....

Man himself.

^Not sure if posted beforehand :p
Indirectly but not straightforward, don't worry though! I plan on Making on corrupting at least one human in the story.

Mines not a monster, more of a story I've heard around a few camp fires out in the Australian bush, the no-man or tall man depending on the version I heard, the story loosely goes some thing like If you see the no-man or tall man walking in the distance some one you know is going to die, if you see them up close your time has come, their appearance was usually described as a neolithic warrior, of an extreme height and length of limb, standing anywhere from 7 to 12 feet in height and wielding a giant spear, some times they were accompanied by wild dogs. They tend not to run at you or attack, just to be traveling loping resolutely along if seen in the distance toward a loved ones home or camp site. And if seen up close they just stare at you. Then some great calamity befalls the individual, for example they die in a fire, drown or fall off a cliff or commit suicide.
Well.....not one of the 4 'top dogs' that i'm creating (since i want them to have the power to kill God or something) so....i high ranked monster that is then, maybe like a royal Guard to one of the Top Dogs.

hmm.....how about that the victims of one of the Top Dogs turns their victims into hideously mutated Clowns that use Chainsaws and laugh the night. They can't be seen in daylight, but only in the night where you can see them if all nearby light sources are dead. But make a sound and you can say hi! to a very angry chainsaw.
Basically, combined your ideas with my own.

A centaur, but not like a normal human half, a demonic human and even more demonic horse half.

Perhaps wielding some sort of weapon?

Hows that?

First off, I see you have Slender Man as your avatar. Speaking of monsters...brrr.

Now, for an idea. I was thinking some sort of four-legged, agile creature. It's fast, can climb well, leaps about, etc. Now for the special part: Its entire body is filled to the braking point with raw energy. That's where it gets its speed, but the power is very unstable. The monster is twitchy and often moves with little coordination. It can release the energy in the form of anything from a cluster of lightning bolts emitting from its body to a blast of fire from its mouth. If it doesn't release the energy every once in a while, it will actually explode, vaporizing anything within a twenty-foot radius and heavily damaging objects within a few hundred feet. Overall, it's a rather psychotic, uncontrollable creature.

I even drew you a quick concept since I have nothing better do do with my time:

You know, i think you are the first guy to notice that over this entire discussion! I though that would have been found sooner.
Anyway, i accept the power of the monkey *giggle* but i don't quite know about the creature itself.....i may need to create it as something else.

It would have to look like the thing from the cover of the Fear of the Dark album, and be some sort of shapeshifting, designed-to-hunt-humans supernatural predator.

Well, SM creeps me out to no end, and I tend to notice him right away on a webpage...
As for redesigning, quite understandable. I just drew that because I had a spare five minutes, and it was as much for me trying to visualize the thing as you. So...do what you want!

INSPIRATION!!!! (Disgaea is good at that)

Lets start with a succubus, doesn't matter from where as long as it's something that tempts the opposite sex to indulge in the pleasures of the flesh. Now it can read you mind to discover your fetish so it knows exactly how to draw you in, and once it has trapped you, strength beyond that of any body builder (bear in mind they still have a slender attractive body so the strength is a surprise) and any fluids (yes any) from it's body are a powerful nerotoxin, so once it's in you, you become paralyzed and unable to fight back. From there you become an incubator for their young, and can feel them slowly eating away at your insides until a part of your body is weak enough to break through. From there the parent will nurture them with the blood of victims. If forced into combat, their skin turns dark, the mouth gets bigger, their teeth become jagged and fanged, their fingers become long and skinny, and they sprout a second set of arms. For a weapon they summon twisted, hooked spears that thirst for blood and are enchanted based upon what they command. The same thing they command can be used as a projectile, such as a fireball or lighting bolts. Of course should their spear be broken or lost, the go into a savage frenzy, and settle for charging at the enemy forgoing anything that could cause them harm and just start tearing at them, though even the thickest of material, laughing hysterically as their prey screams in pain. Once they reach the heart, they pierce it and drink the blood as it gushes out, feeding their insanity. From their they just start rending the body in all manner of horrible ways, until nougat is left but a pile of various entrails is left. By gazing on this sight, they regain their sanity, and proceed to make a new spear out of the materials of the corpse, and enchant it, changing its shape to reflect the darkness that lied within person they made it of.

I actually began drawing a creature. It is only a black shape but I'm developing it into something quite cool in my notes.
Think Ink Blots and how you can see lots of stuff in them.

I find that random shapes made with ink randomly drawn is the best way to create ideas.

Oh, and trying to think of what hte monster does in its life is a good help. I mean, just having a monster is hard. Having a monster that is adapted and made for a dark, damp cave full of poisonous mushrooms, you develop ideas of what it could use to adapt to the environment and all of a sudden you get really good ideas of what it can look like and it can do to whoever gets in its way.
