look I am sick and tired of the SHIT songs on the radio, and the fact that every top music site I come across has shitty music, even their supposed "top ten" are good.

What I need is at least some bands I can look into to get more music! At the moment I have just over 200 songs, half of which are no good.

Give me any music you think is good PLEASE. It does not matter if it's foreign or not (I am an american).

Also while your at it, what is the band that sings the song in this tribute vid? http://vimeo.com/8186760 (I cant tell if its two or one band, but if its two tell me both bands, or the name of the song(s))

If there is already a thread like this, direct me too it, search isn't working ATM
Here you are champ, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trdZGO61Nuw&feature=PlayList&p=C95A58A37062B4EA&index=0

Listen to the Pixies. Pretty much invented the grunge/alternative music of the '90s.

Also would recommend Iron Maiden, King Crimson, Radiohead, Muse, Sonic Youth, and Jane's Addiction.

Well since you didn't say any specific genre I'll list some good alternative/indie rock bands

Vampire Weekend
Nirvana
Weezer
Modest Mouse
Franz Ferdinand
Radiohead
Beck
Muse
Smashing Pumpkins
The White Stripes

And if you like more "regular" rock

Queens of the Stone Age

I don't know how helpful these lists will be because so many bands are listed here you will probably only look up the first bands posted/ the ones, which are mentioned frequently

EDIT: Daft Punk is also a really good electronica band

Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Flogging Molly, Voltaire, Lordi, and Crush 40 are all good bands.

If you're more into dance music there's Cascada, and there are also a few good songs out there by DJ Sammy.

(note that I have tried more bands than that from your suggestions, nor are those the best bands that I have seen, just the most prominent names off the top of my head)

These guys are pretty sweet. They're an up-and-coming prog(methinks) rock band. And they've been kind enough to supply their album free of charge for download in the more info section.

Also, Karnivool's Sound Awake and Radiohead's Hail to the Thief are both brilliant albums.

Coheed and Cambria. Do it. Try Time Consumer and A Favor House Atlantic. You'll probably like Welcome Home, but it is seriously their worst song, listen to the other stuff.
Depends on what you like. I just got a friend hooked on Co&Ca, and it was Welcome Home that got him in.
And A Favour House Atlantic one of their ebst songs? Really?

Despite my slight disagreement on where to start, indeed, Coheed & Cambria is something everyone should give a try.

If you like hard rock and metal, start out with Welcome Home and Gravemakers and Gunslingers.
If you like softer, more "light" music, then I suggest Running Free, A Favour House Atlantic or Devil in Jersy City.
If you like the quiet songs, Wake Up or the Light and the Glass.
Lastly, if you like progressive stuff, a nice place to start are the Willing Well tracks, Time Consumer, or 21:13.
Coheed & Cambria are just perfect. With the exception of their last album, I have never heard a less than brilliant song from them.

I'd also like to recommend...
The Dresden Dolls - A sort of cabaret-esque rock, consistisn mostly of piano, drums and vocals.

Mew - the best band ever to come out of Denmark. Hauntingly beautiful.
