Thanks for all the input guys. I also took some advice and have actually convinced my assessor to let me take the project in my own direction, allowing me to confine it to a local basis. I'll be doing some surveys tomorrow in town. I'm then going to compare it to this thread and the thread on the local university website tomorrow.
