That would be like Infinity Ward being forced to share their Intellectual Property with another developer just because the publisher wants more money. OWAIT -.-

Obsidian should never touch the Elder Scrolls; they couldn't program with Fallout 3's tweaked Oblivion engine for shit and I found NV's storyline a bit of a drag.

I guess you never played Planescape:Torment, Fallout 1/2, Mask of the Betrayer, Vampire:Bloodlines or Arcanum , cause the writing (story/characters/dialog) puts anything Bethesda has done to shame.
Your argument is invalid. Obsidian did NOT do those games, a few of their developers did. Bloodlines and Arcanum were Troika, and Fallout 1 and 2 were Black-isle. Just because you have a few of the developers from those games in the company your supporting, doesn't make it a good company, nor does it make the companies that actually did make those games become part of said company. That would be like saying Apple is dead because Steve Jobs died, or that Apple invented Windows, because someone in their company made it possible to run windows on a Mac. It just doesn't work.

Basically, what i'm trying to say here is this.

Obsidian is yet to have 1 good, complete game under their belt in the past 10 years. Prove me wrong.

Can't use New-Vegas cause it was a P.O.S. and THE WORST rated fallout game since the series started. Find me one game that was an Obsidian game that actually lived up to the standard that THEY THEMSELVES hyped it up to meet, and it didn't end up falling flat.

Can't do it? Thought so. That's because the claims you are making are fanboy support to a company that has time and time again been proven to be a weak developer by the games that they release.

orcs? a retarded robot? a plot with more holes than a chesse grinder?

Im still not entirely happy about "The elder scrolls: Fallout" but in a way they gave a shot to the guys at Obsidian and new vegas was good... so i think they are ok, besides, in the old days i played a LOT of arena and daggerfall, and a fair amount of morrowind.

Skyrim is really good tho, they have dumbed it down a LOT, but its still fun to play.

Given Obsidian's track records for the games they get tasked to do, the flaws in the game would put me off the ES series.

Bethesda created the Elder Scrolls series, and it should stay with them.

IT would be like if someone else was to direct a Star Wars movie other than George Lucas

*Looks at Episode 1, 2 and 3*

Then again that might not be a bad idea.

I want Obsidian to write [http://cdn.themis-media.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/27/27254.jpg] an Elder Scrolls game. The actual programming, not so much.

What's with that mentality of having more games in shorter time? Who even came up with that nonsense? Oh right. Console market. Sorry.
Yeah, corporations would NEVER have tried to sell us more games without those damn console kiddies!

The problem I have with Obsidian is that they're games are usually full of bugs.
Basically my first thought.

I think it'd be interesting to see Obsidian's take on an Elder Scrolls game, because in my opinion, if you don't consider the bugs that New Vegas contained, it was a better game than Fallout 3.
Plus a five and a half year wait between Elder Scrolls games is agonising.

Mask of the Betrayer. Yes, it's a NWN2 expansion, but honestly, it's a full game in and of itself, with a 20+ hour storyline, it's also one of the best put together games I've ever played.

You have already decided that everything they did was terrible. It's impossible to convince you otherwise because all anyone can offer is that they thought those games were good.

I think New Vegas blew 3 out of the water in nearly every respect, and I also like Alpha Protocol and Neverwinter Nights.

Hmmmm, Bethesda, as in Awesome games with a ton of midly annoying bugs...
Obsidian, screwing up sequels since KOTOR2 with a metric **ckton of machine freezing bugs...

No!
More like, "Bethesda, as in Awesome games with a metric **ckton of machine freezing bugs..." as well.

Anyone who feels Fallout 3 was superior to NV is so lost (or just a d**k-riding Beth fangirl), they don't even deserve to be argued with.
Pretty much agreed. I wrote up a pretty big argument about how NV is better in a PM; perhaps I'll make a thread of it sometime. It could be interesting because I very rarely see anyone who prefers 3 explain why.

While the game itself should stay with Bethesda, it wouldnt hurt for them to take a few tips from Obsidian, and have them help with the story.

I feel that Bethesda is just a bit to complacent with the series. Sure, they made THE GAME OF THE F*CKING CENTURY((at least till TES:6 hits the shelves)), they could have made it more in depth story wise.

Id love to learn more about Alduin's past, and get to know Odahviing a bit more. Sure, thats what mods are for, but mods will never surpass something that a company really sinks its time into.

This is the best scenario.

Or let Obsidian do the expansions. New Vegas and Kotor2 basicly were glorified expansions on existing engines and game resources and those ended up being better than the originals, bugs and unfinished business all considered.

THE ELDER SCROLLS:
NEW MORROWIND!
Haha, I was going to say New Morrowind but I decided on New Daggerfall instead for some reason.

I think Fallout 3 had a terrible combat system outside of VATS, though.
Youknow... New Morrowind could be like a fallout game. I mean didnt that place get hit by disaster of giant-volcanic proportions? So essentialy a fallout game with Dwemer/Drow magic vault and fantasy instead of science fiction. Drow-boy 2000. . . amulet..
