If you could create a Fallout Vault experiment, what would you do?

A Vault with 1000 residents, they have their memory wiped and go through metal conditioning to think they are chosen knights destined to save the wastelands.
They go into cryostasis for 100 years and when they wake up the vault looks like a midevil barrack. They are given armour and weapons and are realeased into the wastelands.

Purpose: To see if someone who thinks he is chosen to save the Earth can defeat a foe with much more advanced weapondry through pure determination.

Actually Vault 108 with Gary clones was about power. Vault-Tec gave them enough food to last two thirds of the time until the Vault was to be opened and not enough power but a gigantic armoury. One of the scientists cloned Gary in a bid for control, as the Overseer was scheduled to die in 40 months.

Build a Vault with food dispensers that constantly dispense food, all the fatty stuff. Release a gas into the air that nullifies the brains signals that tell people to "Stop eating, fatty!".
All the jumpsuit extruding machines release incredibly comfortable and extravagant clothing, not just the jumpsuits.
Also the entire Vault is furnished like a ludicrously wealthy, vice enjoying billionaire, with all sorts of extravagances that people enjoy.

Then after around 50 or so years, assuming that the people haven't gotten so fat that they can't procreate, take it all away.
A series of bizarre accidents disables most of the Vaults entertainment areas, leaving the Overseers office, the living areas, and basically anywhere you can't have fun, intact.
The jumpsuits produced are now horribly itchy, and break down easily.
The food dispenser still produce the same types of food, just only enough to feed half the Vault. Also, that gas is still pumping.
Then after another 25 years, the Vault opens.

The Aim: See what happens when you give people everything they want, then take it away from them, especially after that are so used to it.

Hypothesis: Cannibalism, at least at some point.

I'd make a vault where only ten percent of teh population coudl see or hear. They'd have to take it upon themselves to care for the rest, or let everyone die. Be an interesting morality test.

well that and we are spoiled as a nation. We complain about being bored when other coutries are struggling to just live. Ever see an 8 year old with an ak 47 for protection? I have.

Oh yeah .50 cals are awesome! Where I live they have a prairie dog shoot once a year to thin teh population, and you can use whatever you feel like bringing out with you. Have you ever seen what happens to a prairie dog when a .50 cal round goes through it? Pink mist.

vault 13: all types of metal are played constantly (but not to the extent that everyone goes deaf)

everything in the fault is metal (in the figurative meaning as well as the literal)

everyone must be able to master a heavy metal instrument and Medevil weaponry

seal the fault for 200 hundred years and then play a automated message instead of metal saying "time to go, get your G.E.C.K, instruments, and pizza and get out

Stock it full of norms, then stock it full of supplies, and then after a set number of years, begin luring Super Mutants, Ferals, and Deathclaws toward the Vault area. By this time, a section of the cave wall will have "Spontaneously" collapsed, bearing entrance to the creatures that lurk outside. Then monitor how they fair and what they do(or in some cases, how long they last).

Musical vault:

At around 3/5/x 7:30 AM/PM the vault PDA would play obnoxious music for around 30 minutes. When the music stops playing, all people that have not yet entered a room will be greeted with execution via protectotrons. After each execution, a Mr.Handy would come in and make sarcastic remarks as it vacuums up the ashes. When it is done vacuuming up the ashes, it will lock up a random room. Each time this happens, the time between these events and the time the music lasts will diminish. Eventually, it would go from a yearly event to a monthly event to a weekly event to a daily event. At the final execution, when the 30 minutes became 1, the last few people that survived will be fitted with Environment suits, kicked out of the vault and the protectotrons would become their slaves.

X=A year after the bombs fall.

Hypothesis: Either people would fight for the rooms, find a way to break the system and stop the madness, or they would survive to the end of it all with a reward of environment suits and a life outside Vault 45 protected by robots

i cant remember where i heard it but that activates something in our body that makes humans sleepy

it would be interesting to see if the people in the vault would be tired all the time or just lazier or to see if any production or activites would commence

Or 1000 dead cats. What's with the whole "Radiation giving superpowers" thing anyway? Strictly speaking from my ass, is it because most the superhero comics/films/tv shows involving "super-ifying" radiation came from a time of confusion or unknowns involving radiation?

Umm... do we get a "control" vault, or multiple vaults for opposites or multiple variables? Anyway, on strictly one to see what would happen... all blind people except one, and he has only one working eye, just to test the theory.

The Vault's number would be 40, only couples with newborn children would be allowed to enter the Vault, and as soon as the Vault is sealed, the children are taken away by robots, and their parents killed.

The children are divided by sex and placed in opposite, sealed sections of the Vault with robots caring for either side, teaching them that their gender is the only one that exists, i.e, on the female's side they would be taught that their gender is the only one, and vice-versa for males.

Both sides have cloning technology for reproduction, after 200 years apart, the two sides would open... What would happen? Would the two sides go to war, would they begin intigrating each other into their societies, or would they just have a giant orgy? Only time will tell...

5 Years later the Vault would open, allowing the residents to venture into the wasteland, will they be prepared? Or will the Lone Wanderer end up exploring another empty Vault? Once again, only time will tell...

I would fill the vault with a bunch of 14 year old boys and make them all take viagra on a regular basis. All of the women will be in their 70s. Open it after 40 years.

Moral choices are boring. That's why I would spice mine up a little bit. I would leave the vault door open, place a homing beacon and the codes to the door in someone's food, then watch them try not to kill him. It would happen eventually, it would just be fun watching them restrain themselves.
