If you could work for any developer...

I think I'd actually go with EA, in a high enough position that they can't force me to rush games, they've got the resources and expertise to allow me to make the games I want, the way I want them, and take my time doing it. They could also aquire any legal rights I needed. I believe I could turn their reputation around a bit, if I could just hide their logo a bit at first. They've been behind some rather excellent games after all, it's the bad ones are overshadowing it. They already own a lot of IP I'd love to take a crack at, which is an advantage. I have a design document for a Spore sequel much longer than I'd care to admit, and it'd be nice to get to use them. I'd also feel less tied down.

While it would be great to work for Bioware, I think I'd rather keep them as a rival. They seem like they're hardly trying with their games, they write a good (great) story and then just don't bother with the game telling it, releasing games with pretty awful, outdated mechanics just because they can, if I could jump in and start making some waves in the same little niche they've stuck themselves in (really, name a competitor making the same kind of games, Obsidian does NOT count), I could probably inspire them to try harder with the game part as well, which would benefit us both.

Obsidian would probably be a great experience, but it would be frustrating, since you'd always be scrounging for time to make ends meet, they've got too little money. I think I'd enjoy working there since I'd feel I was helping them get out of it, but they already have great talent in most areas except scripting, and that's sadly not my place. While I wouldn't do more harm than good, I wouldn't add enough for it to be worthwhile.

So yeah, I'd actually go with EA. Perhaps I could nudge some people into buying up Obsidian and sinking some money into it, and let them actuallly finish their games for once, which would be neat.

Then again, any of the big ones would be an interesting experience, for a while. Those three I would be content working for a longer time though. At Valve, Blizzard or Bungie I wouldn't be able to stick it out for more than a single game, I think, I'd just feel too tied down.

Bioware. Bioware. and Bioware.

Do I need a reason why?
Yes, you do. My personal favourite argument is:
BIOWARE!

Seriously though, definitely with them. They seem to like actually making a game and not just sucking the money out of the audience the most efficient way they can (unless they decided the most efficient way to do it is to make a good game... which works for me too!). It seems like a place where I could actually sit down with people and discuss how to make the game better, as opposed to just making the most marketable thing at the time.

Why would anyone want to join a developer with the way the publishers are treating them lately? Did we miss the Infinity Ward thing and all the tweets from the other employees? :|

1.Blizzard or square enix

2.Blizzard came up with WOW, the MMORPG; and square enix came up with all the flashy realistic cutscene in Final Fantasy. I would like to pick up a thing or two from those developers.

best ones . 1.valve 2.double fine(judging only from theyre one game psychonauts best game ever created) 3. rare(theyre brilliant) and 4.bioware because of theyre masterpiece mass effect.
and worst companies ever imagined( if i worked in them i would kill myself) bungie, electronic arts and activision
And when they get theyre, theyre going to put on theyre mittens -_-
Anyways, I'd work for Valve, obvious reasons. It'd be awesome to see what ideas they're coming up with, and contribute some of my own.

If I'm being realistic, I'd work for the Tamriel Rebuilt team, who are a bunch of guys making a FUCKING HUGE mod for Morrowind that extends the gameworld to not only include Vvardenfell, but also mainland Morrowind. I'm currently working on a showcase mod to see if I can get hired :)

Square-Enix

Why?
So I could infiltrate their upper ranks and bring some class back into their company.

Starting with "Project Mana Prime": FINISH SECRET OF MANA (as awesome as the game is, it's actually unfinished). Then give it a proper narrative to accompany the epic feel of the original. Keep the artistic design and musical score just to prove that style/presentation can still beat tech.

Alternatives:

Rockstar

Using their considerable talent for satires and black comedy, I would create a Shadowrun sandbox game in the vein of Grand Theft Auto; keeping to the dark-cyberpunk setting which is meant to satirize a materialistic world where ethics don't really matter (you know, the sort of game Rockstar is really REALLY good at?)

Let the player create their character and turn them loose in the game world or play the stories of individual runners where the outcome of each run changes events in some of the others' stories.

tri-Ace. I love most of the series I've played that they produced. Really no particular reason beyond that. I just think it would be fun.

1st choice: Lionhead, too be able to work on Fable. And work with Peter M. (huge fan of him) would be a dream for me.

2nd choice: Naughty Dog. So I can convince em to take back Crash Bandicoot and make it good.

2K Marin. I'm a HUGE Bioshock fan, and I would love to give my input on new ideas for the next game.

Second and third choices would be Rockstar or Double Fine.

Hmmm Probably ValvE or Bioware.

Valve because it seems as though they have a lot of fun there, and they make excellent games.
Bioware because they always have a compelling story, one that I would be proud to put my name under.

Runner up: Bethesda, only reason why not is because I don't think I would enjoy modding a game that I helped make.
