I love the word "rue" as in "You will rue the day...". I don't get a lot of chances to use it though at least not seriously. I usually say it while gaming with others.

Well, we tried this at school once, with "dope", after hearing it on Skate a lot...

It didn't take off. We also tried ponce (which I haven't heard in a while), and we invented the word pront, but we weren't quite sure what it meant.

My request for aid is the word Forsooth.
Did you never play Two Worlds?

I'm all for it, providing it's used with care, and not just shoved into a sentence to make it 'olde worlde'

You've already got my help with words like 'spiffing', 'poppycock' and 'pish-posh'... I never stopped saying them. Maybe this is why people accuse me of talking like a twat.

EDIT: Also, we need to say 'wazzock' more. The fact that they used it on Top Gear last night should help, it's certainly what reminded me.

It's not originally from there, but Catherine Tate used it all the time in Dr.Who.

Qwibble should be brought back, as should ergo.
Ergo is a brilliant word.
Makes you sound intelligent too.

Well it's good I use many of these already. ^^
I myself am a fan of ye olde English.
Rather, proper English in general makes me happy.

So bring 'em back!
Only the good ones though, I personally think 'groovy' and 'gnarly' should be left in their graves. /:

I say whence, thus / thusly, ergo, per se [that's how you spell it], moreso, happenstance... etcetera, etcetera quite often. So I fully support you lot. ^^

What about the splicing of two words to make a new one? Like "Fantabulous," "Fantasmical" or "Badong" (a quarter to whomever gets the reference).

I'd like to see more use of "Ace" and "Boss" as synonyms for great.
No.

I got stuck saying "Aces" for about a month and wanted to seriously punch myself in the face every time I said it. It didn't help I'd developed a mandatory thumbs up with it.

Granted the added "S" to the word makes it ten times worse aswell.

What a great idea!
I'll sign up to bring back Pish-posh, Spiffy and Poppycock.

My request for aid is the word Forsooth.
Poppycock, m'lad, for forsooth is already used in quite abundance! I'm actually for keeping these words underground, for if more people get ahold of them, then their awesomeness will be robbed of them, and they shall become as shallow as the common tricks of the tongue.

Cat.
As in "This cats groovy, he can roll with us"

If were sticking with the British ruckus, "codswallop".
Which also means nonsense, alot of old words mean nonsense.
Codswallop indeed! Balderdash!

Yes, latin has that effect. After all, Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur.

On topic though, I use these words when the occasion calls, but never excessively. I find it better to keep them rare, for their rare use dictates their level of sheer obscurity.

What a jolly good idea old chap!

We should start the world speaking in delightfully silly English accents.

What fun!

gay, i love the word gay and i use it all the time, its classy and bring back memories of a better time.

let me say i have absolutely nothing against homosexuals and im actually a volunteer at this years outgames (http://www.copenhagen2009.org/) but i think its time we took the word back, when i say im gay it means im happy and not homosexual.
Yeah... once you see how many yobs use 'gay' as a short word for all things bad in the world you prolly won't wanna use it... :\
Good idea though.

Lets have a gay old time! With lashings of ginger ale! Hoorah!
