I remember in 2nd through the first half of 5th grade I was at a private school, where there was always childish fads. Having an imaginary friends, putting E's backwards. I was so sick of it. Not to mention one of the teachers was basically a female Steve Wilkos. I moved and after year or two found where I belong.

There's very little hope that I can, we only have about 6 classes left, I've spent 6 other classes trying to work with these guys to no avail and I still can't get that one guy to stop pretending to jerk off. Luckily the script is the meat of the grade earned and it's a good script.
And that's where every great movie begins: with a solid script.

As a pseudo-interesting aside: it is easier to redirect a force than to stop it. Perhaps you should try to find a way to get Sir Whack-a-lot to use his, erm... talents, for something more productive. He'd make a hell of a lighting tech with such a strong grip.

Well I'll give it a shot, thanks for the advice. As for Spunky McMasturbator he's is not going to ever get his hands on that tripod leg (in fact I'm thinking of bringing something else that he can't ust for that, the ***** can fuck off back to her cliche plot, we're going to make sure that guy knows what we're doing and make sure he doesn't wander off. Finally we will plan out where we are going to film to reduce interuptions.

Oh yeah, that sounds familiar. The one group I was in for the final project for one of my first semester classes in Multimedia Production was much like that. We had to do a script and film a small CSI: Miami scene. The one guy could never be counted on to show up and when he did show up we barely got anything done because he'd keep sidetracking everyone with irreverent crap.
The one time over half an hour was wasted while he and some of the others broke in to mock DBZ-esq fights. And this is in College.
Oh fuck you'd think that exams, the crushing reality of life, the cars, the booze, the ability to drop out of highschool and the age would either remove them or straighten them out. Well at least I know what to look forward to, thanks for the eyeopener and man do I feel sorry for you, that's the group I'm with on steriods.
Yeah, you'd think. Interestingly enough, that guy I mentioned, apparently that was his second time taking that class too.
There is good news however, College will weed out the illprepaired. The Multimedia Production program I'm currently taking is a 2-year program and I just finished the first year back in April. After the first year more then half of the people who started the program with me back in September have dropped out.
As long as the workforce isn't full of them it's a much more beautiful place.
Saddly, you get people like that everywhere.
I have a strange sudden urge to cry out WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!
Believe me, if I had the answer to that I wouldn't be sitting here discussing it on a gaming forum. I'd have published a book on it, made millions and retired somewhere.

Maybe get something that's similar to a tripod leg, but coated in rusty spikes?

And yes - production schedules are your best friend. I could certainly understand people being unresponsive and wandering off in boredom if they weren't made privy to a plan in the first place.
If you wanna be professional about it, two days notice of shoot days is standard. Though, for such a low attention span crew, you may want to give daily (or hourly) reminders from then on.

And a gentleman, as any director should be, never refers to someone as "a *****", unless she is a dog bearing puppies. And even then, not in polite company.

Unfortunatly you weren't endowed with that knowledge and you will eventually enjoy the monotunus soul crushing labours of life rather than relaxing on a beach somewhere with a bigtited supermodel who thinks your the greatest thing since sliced bread. But oh man, that would be the life... *sigh*

Have you ever been stuck in a group that makes you want to stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger? Either because they are immature, childish, idiotic, lazy, or just plain annoying? Well here's my group of assholes, in com and media class I'm stuck doing a script writing project, after we write the script we film it. Well the girl who was originally doing the script said she didn't want to write it, so I offered to and did so. She then turns around and starts writing a script and denounces mine as garbage and calls it stupid even though she hasn't even read the damn thing!

Next up are the two out of our 4 actors, one cannot concentrate on anything and wanders on and off the set, we constantly need to track him down and make him get his shit together. The last one is the worst, we need to make a fake gun for our plot but we cannot use anything that looks like a gun, so we decided to use a broken tripod leg, you know one of the legs that you can adjust to help take the pictures without shaking the camera. Whenever we give this guy the damn thing he pretends to jerk off with it, I wish I was joking and whenever I ask for him to stop and give me the leg he says no it's mine and I literally have to yank it out of his hands to get him to stop. Afterwards he makes a whole bunch of lame mastubation/dick jokes and acts like a 5 year old he wanders around with the leg and always bugs me with it. One time I told the teacher to help me get the leg from him and while the teacher was standing there I told him to pass the leg over and stop acting like a god-damn 5 year old, he then says that I'm the five year old for getting angry with him, I then reply with your the five year old because you cannot stop acting like and asshole and get shit done! That landed me some "to the office time" and I was rather pissed off.

The other guy and I cannot get anything done because the ***** won't get off her high horse (the script she wrote is garbage, it is full of cliches and plot holes), another guy cannot fucking concentrate and the other can't act his fucking age! We can't join another group because they're full and the one we're with won't shut the hell up and do something, even the teacher isn't doing jack-shit. So what group are you, or were with that makes you wan't to say this?

Also I realize this makes me seem like a bossy dick but really that's only when I get angry and even then I only want to get things done. And no I didn't attack that kid I forcefully took the tripod leg from him, I didn't hit him.
I feel your pain, I'm somewhat relieved when I read something like this though, reminds me that for every 30 idiots or so there's someone there to ***** about them like me. =]

We're in grade nine so that means we're either 14 or 15. And man this is a great way to blow off steam, hope whatever your group is doing is going better (as in started) than what we're doing. And no we can't choose groups.

That's real life experiance for you when you become a director. You must learn to deal with childish actors in order to get shit done. How do you think any movie with Tom Cruise gets made?
Just fire there ass?

Maybe you can ask your teacher to do a solo :p
If you want something done do it yourself?
Yeah there all assholes except guy who can't concentrate. All the problems would be gone i bet if teacher did anything.

I did it when I was 16 and still haven't finished, lol. Granted I ended up ditching the entire activity, I see no reason to stay where people don't want my contribution, and I definitely don't have any attachment to that kind of frustration. Since I assume you're being graded however (here it didn't matter much to me), I would suggest expelling the chick to damnation and going with your script. Perhaps you can develop your own film. (Do you need to use members of the group as actors?)

Stop trying to be in control, if they want to fuck around let them don't rise to it because it just sounds like you're the biggest asshole in the group.

I don't care if he makes hurrr durr dick jokes, only people who're equally as childish will rise to such behavior.
He has to be in control if he wants to get a good grade...

I'm an intimidating person, so if anyone ever fucks around when my group is seriously trying to work I just tell them to sit down and shut up. Mind you I've been known to goof around, but even then I know there's a limit. In the end if it gets out of hand I just boot them out of the group forcefully, or do the entire project without them (I let them take some credit if the teacher isn't helping).

OT: The worst group I ever had was in grade 11. Was doing a history project with 5 people (me included), and only one of them had any intention of actually working. The other three knew that I was fairly knowledgable when it came to history, and proceeded to coast of me and the other guy's hard work. Luckily the teacher wasn't a useless dolt and actually noticed. So on the day we were supposed to present she took the other 3 aside and told them that they would have to do an individual assignment if they wanted to receive marks (and even then they could only get 50% of the total).

So even though it was the worst group I've ever had it still turned out fine. I would not like to repeat that experience though because I was ready to snap on those three, and getting charged with assault (I was 18 at the time) didn't seem like much fun.

Hah I wish they wouldn't shut the hell up so we can move on with the class, and some them make annoying farm animal sounds.

Sounds like 2 other people in my regular class. They have yet to be told off by the teacher.

It's something you're going to ahve to accept if you do any kind of arts or media course; most of the people you work alongside will only be there ebcause there's nothing else they feel like doing and they think those subjects sound easy.
That's why the three of them are in that class.
