Liking the look of this one, I hope there are energy weapons in it or will be added to it. Just doesnt seem like a mech game without energy weapons.

I'm just happy to see something that is a modern day FPS clone.

For an indie developer, that looks incredible. But as a title it looks "ok" at best. Face it, with MechWarrior and Armored Core have done what Hawken is doing to death, and they've done it well. Adhesive Games have some pretty big shoes to fill.

On a side note, anyone remember that MechWarrior 5 trailer that came out around a year ago? It looked really, really great.

That's what I loved about the MechWarrior franchise. It creates a sense of realism that other robot games lack (mainly because the other mech games are all japanese).

Would really like to see some news on that game.
Unholy Hell.

Why did I not know about this game? That intro reminded me of the MechWarrior 2 intro. Good times.

Oops. On topic: Hawken looks like it could be interesting. I hope they have a sense of inertia about the game.
I came....

As cool as this looks, we still need a sequel to the old Mechwarrior series. I would kill to have another mech sim game like that.

I'm not a big fan of the "Mechwarrior design" mechs, mechs that look more industrial and tank-like than humanoid. Also from the gameplay it looks like an arena-style shooter, the kind I hate. However the gameplay over all looks ok, the pov hud looks cool, and I like the look of the levels (although they're in desperate need of some color).

The first thing that came to mind for me was steven hawkings all of a sudden. I don't know why. It'd be cool to see steven hawkings in one of those robots......yeah......steve......robots....

Looks like Hawken has taken heavy inspiration from Armored Core 4. NOT a bad thing! AC4 was decent (though I understand the best of the series was long ago), and I had fun with it. Development was clearly rushed, and the product weapon balance showed (when everyone is using the same loadout, it shows there wasn't enough attention payed to balancing variance).

I look forward to trying it. :)

Does no-one else think that every single mechanic shown in that trailer is lifted straight out of Armored Core? (Beg pardon if someone has, I didn't read every post :p)
Sure it looks nice (the little cockpit sneak peak at the end looked quite good), and I quite liked AC, but still... :/
Course we won't know till it gets played but I'm hoping it's not just a tarted up AC clone.
I'm with you. I felt AC4 through that WHOLE thing. But really, I wished the devs behind AC4 did a better job with their work than they did. It was rushed, and ultimately split into two games (Armor Core 4, and 4Answer). It's two iterations were supposed to be one game. Hawken may be able to capture what the AC4 team couldn't, even if it does turn out to be a clone. I support that.

That does look quite nice. :) Unfortunately, AC games in recent generations have never been very accessible to new players. I spent a good portion of the game wondering wth a [em]Next[/em] was. I eventually guessed, through context, that it was the mechs we were in. And as I mentioned in a quoted post above, AC4 and 4Answer (dunno about previous) were very rushed. They were supposed to be one game, but in an effort to get them out the door, they were split into two games. And the last time I heard about Mechwarror was Mercenaries 3. Since 4 escaped under the radar, I'm not sure how much of a success it was.

I'm okay with giving an indy team a chance at this. It looks like they're drawing their inspiration from AC4+.

One thing AC games had going for them was the customization ability. Even for a Eastern game, you could have western mechs.

To be fair you make a good point, I suppose AC never quite lived up to its potential and if this can take what AC did and make it the game it should be I can definitely get behind it. As long as people realise they're not actually doing something new and innovative lol

Looks like it has potential but from what I could see the animations were jumping a lot (may be my video player not sure) and some particle effects where a bit excessive at times - sure it looks nice but it can affect performance.

Sadly if you tried a western mech in 4Answer you just loose, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, loose and go play a different game :p

It is impossible to beat White Glint with a heavy ground based mech, he will out manuver you and blow you away, so you are forced into the game type that the devs wanted you to be, the customization in that game is an illusion :p
Dang, I never knew. I forced myself into that role, just because I thought it was such a cool looking mecha. :3

I would say they're also developing a game for an under developed genre... but I believe Funks article says it's a mecha FPS. Mechwarrior and Armored Core were Mech simulations. I'm curious to see how this differs. Even if it is just mechs instead of marines, I really don't want another fps. I'd prefer an unoriginal "do it right" mech simulator at this point, because it's not an over saturated genre.

Wow...if these guys had made Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight, it might've been, you know, good
It is very sad when the best Gundam games are the Dynasty Warriors ones. So much gaming potential in that IP...

I'll check this out, but probably won't spend more than $15 on it.
Be fair, now. The Gundam TPS/fighting/genre schizophrenia games were fairly good. Tons of fun to play splitscreen too, co-op or otherwise.
There were some good 2d sideby Gundam fighting games too, Endless Waltz on the SNES, for instance.

And i'm sure there have been alot more great games. They just only release in Japan.
