I was excited till I read the F.A.Q. and figured out it will not have any singleplayer component.

Smells like a worthy sequel to the much-loved Mechwarrior series. Damn I want a new Mechwarrior game. My only caveat would be if the mechs are more "eastern" than "western" (ie: super fast and twitchy). I like my heavy mechs to look and feel heavy, as if they could crush the earth if they wanted.

Nothing will ever satisfy the need for a well made and fast-paced Gundam game. :/

Looks to western-y for my liking, no one does better giant robots than the Japanese.
OBJECTION ! ! (hehe irony)

well its a matter of taste again. As i read "mecha-game" i was like awww no why not another mechwarrior, then i watched the vid and was probably even happier then i would have been if id expected something more western.
So yes the title is misleading, but i forgive OP here.

No singleplayer seems to shoot it down. Though Armored Core never did focus on multiplayer, it still remains as a "This is how you make exciting mech multiplayer" to every other game. With Mechwarrior as primary shoes to fill though, I doubt it'll succeed. Still it'll probably substitute for the many waiting Chromehounds players that walk around empty-handed.

Hmm. So there is a new alternative for my mecha fix.
I haven't really had much to tide me over since Armored Core went down the shitter.
Front Mission Evolved was ok, though quite shallow.

If Hawken can get the balance between customization and combat correct, I think it might move onto my rare "Must try" list.
Unless of course it's going to be an exclusively multiplayer game, in which case I would pass (too many cheaters, quitters, screechers, and whiners in today's multiplayer titles for my tastes).

They obviously took a page out of the big book of Armored Core when making this.

Which is what I call progress. I'll be looking forward to it.

That game looks ridiculously amazing, especially for an indie game.

Defo on my buy list, but I must wonder how much content can there really be with so few people working on it?

Oh, and that brief 1st person segment at the end: did that seem really jarring to anyone else?

Its remind me the Xbox game "Phantom Crash" (since that game also took plave in a urban environment) which is a good thing since I adore that game.
Hah, totally ninja'd you :p That game was awesome fun ^_^ You have a favourite build?
Ah danm you did:p The only build I used was using that all rounded mech (look like a frog) and I remember giving it hovering legs and I had both lazer arms but I made the left one heavy (more powerful but slower recharge) and the right arm the oppersite to the left. That way I use the right to break their shield and use the left to deal real heavy damage. I also had those triple missles and luckly for me bought the wolf as the AI chip at the start (I read it was the best AI for the targeting).
Yeah, the rounded mech was my favourite - same legs, standard laser, maximum lightened gatling gun (shoots two bullets at once XD) and a six shot missile launcher (!). I discovered that if I lightened the body to max and fitted the heaviest armour I actually had more hitpoints for the same weight :D Gave it the worse paint job I could find and kicked some serious arse ^_^

Good times - I wonder if this game will be able to match up :)

Bad timing. I have a feeling they're gonna get crushed by Trenched.

Looks good, I can see where all the Japanese Mecha biased people are coming from, they are cool. In a game though I want a mech to feel like a big machine, not plodding per se but not moving like a human/ninja, there's enough 1st and 3rd person shooters where you can move like a human...

First paragraph made me lol. We know John, we know.

It's gets even cooler when it turns out this was made by just nine people, a tiny number considering the quality of this demo.

I think a game like this lives or dies based on the quantity of weapons, and range of customization. If have i to pilot the same 3 mechs every time i play its really no different than any FPS with a complicated HUD XD

Yeh Western Style mechs are boring :p If you want to defy physics you might as well do it while looking good! not like some cobbled together pieces of blocky metal.

I think the sound needs a little work, the gun in the cockpit seems a little asthmatic. I'd love to see where this goes.
