Woot! Go internet, and go supportive geeks! That's what the universe needs more of; folks willing to step up and help their fellow geeks in distress, even if it's just by reassuring them they're not alone in their geekery.

Uhm, she is a first grader? Then she never saw any of the real Star Wars films, if her mother did not really fuck up the rating system.
She is too young for that stuff.
Meaning, she can hardly have any real attachment to the merchandise, not understanding what it is about, anyway.

Its cute that the internet is sympathetic, but I also highly doubt the boys at school will even know about this, much less care. They do not tease her because of star wars, but because she has something they don´t.
I saw the original trilogy back before I can remember(RotJ came out right about when I was born and I know I first saw the films with my dad when I was a toddler) and I loved the movies by the time I was in kindergarden. The violence is very 'fantasy' and unrealistic, there is romance but nothing sexual and the language isn't something out of the range of what a kid should hear. Really I don't see it as being any worse 'adult content' in any of those ways than the princess bride which is pretty commonly viewed as a kids/young adult movie.

I may not be the best person to answer this though since I definitely did watch a lot of films that would normally be classified as inappropriate for kids when I was real little.

Internet as a force of good; I could get used to this.

Although, it's going to take years of therapy.

The only thing I'd have like to happen differently (other than her not getting bullied in the first place obviously) for her to have hit the little bastards in the face with the bottle. That would've probably shut them up.

I'm glad to hear no one trolled the kids. Afterall. They were just being kids. I probably did far worse to people back then. In-fact. I know I did.
And so did I, but I don't wave it away by saying "I was just a kid".
Age is not an exuse for acting like an asshole; Not for me, not for you, and not for them!
Now feel bad about it.
Saying that; I am also glad they did'nt get trolled. Those things get out of control.

For every 'internet paedophile giving little girls images of their genitalia' story there's one of these stories
Now guess which one the media outlets are more prone to give airtime to?
Probably the one people should be warned about.

OT:
When I read the title, I was expecting that someone had trolled the little bastards or something. This is almost a scary mature approach. also not as funny.

Trolling them would just be another form of bullying. Lots of kids do stupid, mean things when they're young...and then they hopefully grow up and know better. But when you grow up being bullied a lot, that tends to stick with you in a lot of ways. That's what makes this so great.

What a bunch of prick first graders. I never did, and never will, do anything as completely wrong and hurtful as that. And to make fun of a girl for liking Star Wars?!?!...because it's only for boys?!?! I would think they would be more likely to make fun of girls with my little pony and Barbie. They probably all just had a crush on her.

Growing up in a rich jewish town, I'm relatively certain that bullying was not an issue in my school. I certainly never noticed anything major....I can't think of a single time anybody ever made fun of me or tried to physically hurt me. I don't know what most public schools are like, but from all the media coverage on the topic I've been exposed to, I'd think that it's a pretty serious problem. I have a hard time believing that the stereotypical playground bully that I've seen portrayed in T.V and movies even exists.

I hope that the twitter users used nice language for Katie.

Completely off topic here and this might be a really stupid question, but how do I italicize, underline, through-line, spoiler box, and post youtube vids directly into a comment box?
