I took some IQ test when I was 7-8 years old. I got 77.

I have taken some recently though, but they asked me to pay to see the results. Stupid leeches!

I did a proper one when I was little (like 5 or something) and apparently I have 135. I don't know if IQ tests "work" or anything, but apparently that's not bad.

I've taken several IQ tests, online and in real life. I always get a score between 120 and 130, so I assume they're quite accurate, but the 'IQ' way of measuring intelligence is bullshit anyway. It's only use is telling if someone is mentally retarded or not.

Yea I know but I want to take an actual IQ test, not one I find on a seedy site that lets me take the test then give them my CC number to give me the results.
Official ones are still bullshit. There are too many dimensions of intelligence to measure. The last IQ test I took was 20 questions long. That barely tells you if a child has memorized his times tables let alone their entire intelligence. IQ needs to be measured over the course of a week to thoroughly do it. Even then you can't do it all on paper with multiple choice answers.

Please don't tell me that anyone believes I.Q. tests taken off the Internet. They usually give you a higher score, so you either buy a print or send your scores or otherwise advertise their site for them.
I literally took one blinded (had a blindfold) and took random choices, and I still got 135. Which is obviously BS.
You should take real tests to get a real score (I'd reccomend MENSA, but it isn't avaivable in my country, so I wouldn't know what I was talking about :p), and even then, they don't tell the whole story. They just test your rational thinking and math skills, which only account for a part of the brain.
Also, a lot of I.Q. tests don't match up. A 100 on one might equal 115 on another one, becouse they don't all use the same scales.

Well, that's my two cents anyway. Take 'em or leave 'em.

I can't even be bothered to post an essay anymore - these threads keep popping up...

Needless to say, IQ tests are bullshit.

Your score is completely and utterly irrelevant.

Half of you are making up what score you did get, and if you aren't it just adds more proof that IQ tests are jokes.

They can't be used to test intelligence.

They test only how good you are at taking IQ tests - if you took another test straight after one you'd do better because you'd know how the questions work, for example.

IQ score is terribly important ofcourse. How about we talk about EQ for a moment? First of all a balanced intelligence test has EQ factored in. Secondly, people with high EQ scores tend to be more successful and happy. All the while a substantial difference between your IQ and EQ leaves you with a lot of confusion (especially during childhood), since your analytic understanding is so much higher than your emotional understanding.

Yes and I've determined that IQ tests are bullshit.
True story. And for more reasons than one.

I've seen IQ-threads galore. Apparently, 60% of the human population online has an IQ of 133 or greater, with many people hitting the level of philosophical luminaries.

I mean...gimme a break.....

The only 'accurate' IQ tests are those that are administered at a very young age by a professional. And even in that case, modern-psychologists are incredibly skeptical of this value as an intelligence reading.
So far everyone has said above 120-145.
i would be inclined to agree with you.
Theirs a study somewhere that shows everyone thinks there above average

in IQ terms i guess that means 120 is the new 100

I did one about a year or so ago. It was on the internet, on a credible newspaper's site, but still an internet test.
Scored 144 if I remember correctly, then again it said 110 or 120 is average, so I guess the whole thing wasn't that credible after all. And I don't trust these tests anyway...

I've looked at few on the internet and pretty much all the maths questions confused me and I couldn't do them :(

Chances are the results of me doing one would be something like -24 because of that.

IQ tests are full of shit. I saw results from my ex, 160. I'm sorry, but there is no way that dumb broad was 'gifted' in any way but taking the next dick in her face.

Maybe that was part of the test they gave her. Some of the newer IQ test series are rather comprehensive.

Although next time I'm up for review for my pension they better not give me THAT particular test.

I've taken several, mine averages out as about 130.

Lowest was 110 highest was 150.

I doubt it's correct but I love to use that against people when they treat me like an idiot.

My results, regardless of the test, invariably come back as some form of 'scary fucking smart', leaving the departmental psych who ordered the test to blather on about wasted potential and other such bollocks before concluding that combined with my list of psychiatric problems they should just leave to me my own devices.

IQ Tests are irrelavent, they claim that how intelligent you are is determined at birth, the very idea of this is flawed however is they are testing a set of skills which can be dramatically improved by doing any mensa problems. Therefore if your test score can be improved then its not predetermined level of ability.
Should a person actually be SIGNIFICANTLY smarter then the mean then an IQ test will give the ability to show that, however assume that whatever your answer is, if its on an ACTUAL IQ test, your actual supposed IQ would be 20 points either way of what answer you get. Ignore anything you get on the internet as its all just flattery to sell itself.

Firstly, IQ only tests knowledge, spatial reasoning and logical reasoning, and most people agree that's only a tiny fraction of intelligence. Second, I very much doubt most tests have an average of 100, and so they don't really measure IQ since that's one of its definitions.

Most importantly, a true IQ test arranges its scores on a bell curve, and because of the decreasing sample sizes the further you get from the average, scores outside the 85-115 range become increasingly unreliable, and for most tests scores outside of the 70-130 range are absolute garbage nonsense. And that's for the official tests. If you got a score of over 130 on an online test, that means less than nothing.

I got 156 on mine, but I've since read all sorts of nasty things about IQ tests and don't trust it any more.

Yes but it varies so damn much that it's just not very accurate. Usually I end up with things between 120-140 and who is really arsed about taking them seriously anywhoos?
